Amazing- human echolocation

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Couldn't sleep.-- late night TV--Probably Discovery channel- a young man who is blind and has taught himself to echolocate like a bat. He clicks his teeth or something, listens, and can 'see' the size and shape of lots of things. It was amazing. The researchers put a box of tissues on the table and he 'examines' it and can indicate the size of it with his hands. Just incredible that a human has learned to do it.

Here is the you tube for a news atory on the kid. His mom is awesome for bringing him up with confidence and positive attitude http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkDI_spL0HQ&eurl=http://7.gmodules.com/ig/ifr?view=home&url=http://www.google.com/ig/modules/youtube_videos.xml&nocache=0&up_pr

also amazing but much less admirable- the man whose arms exploded (by abusing steroids and muscle building) ECK.

Echolocate. I had to read it twice to make certain I wasn't seeing chocolate. LOL.

What a neat story! Although I have dial-up and can't watch the Youtube (takes
forever and a day to load) I hope to catch a re-run of it on the Discovery Channel.

Thanks for sharing, what a fascinating story!

Thanks for that, Sally. I've seen both those stories but it never hurts to have a reminder of the sometimes amazing world. And the stupidity. ☺
