I keep finding this bug in my bathroom and I don't know what is it. It's a worm in this little shell that looks like a piece of bark.
Does anyone know what this is? I live in Southern Louisiana and I can't find any information on anything like this.
The pictures aren't great but they're the best I could do. It's only about the size of a pencil eraser.
I would appreciate any help. Thanks!
CLOSED: What is this bug?
This appears to be a household casebearer (Phereoeca uterella; Lepidoptera: Tineidae) or a close relative. Sometimes also known as plaster bagworms, these insects belong to the same family as clothes moths, but apparently prefer to chow down on old spider webs instead of your woolen clothing. See http://creatures.ifas.ufl.edu/urban/occas/household_casebearer.htm for detailed information.
Wow! Thank you! That's him! I'm so glad to finally know what it is!
Thanks so much!
we have those here in florida and i've always found them so interesting, weird and creepy kind of, but interesting.
