I hope y'all can help identify this bug without a photo. It was on a 4-o'clock bloom this evening and when I came in to get the camera, it left. Anyway, it was the size and shape of a ladybug but it was a very shiny gold color, almost mirror-like.
This is the first time I've seen this bug. I looked through the beetles in BugFiles and didn't see it there.
Does anyone know what it is?

Ah, that was quick. I believe you are right. The photo on the second link is clearly this bug. Funny that I've never noticed these here before.
It is a Golden Tortoise Beetle (Charidotella sexpunctata)
