HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM!! :)

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

Jim, tall women are strong and powerful! :) Those that know me now that I'm just under 6 feet.. Well. my mom was 5'4! She had polio as a child and had malformed feet and walked with a very pronounced limp. One day when I was maybe 19? and going out with friends, I asked her if she thought the skirt I was wearing was too short. (Which wasn't according to today's standards!) She told me she would have done anything for long strong legs like mine and she confided that when she was pregnant with me, her constant prayer was that my legs and feet would be perfect because hers weren't. She looked at me and said that hers prayers were answered. Of course I wore that skirt.. and I never forgot it!

Jim, does she want to play college volleyball? She should be proud to be so tall!

Lili, sent it back.. Good Luck! :)

Give us the date and time Chris!

Awww Susan, that is such a beautiful story! I have a tall daughter (5' 9") and my other two are both taller than I am already. I'm only 5' 4" on a very humid day with my curly hair sticking out like li'l orphan annie :)

I'll take a dip here in the stock tank in lieu of the cake and swimming at Chris's!

A better pic for Jim for Monday :)

Maybe July 5th or 19th?

Could do August but the kids go back to school on the 11th.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

I'll sit in the shade and drink sweet tea and admire the scenery. July 5th is my grandsons birthday. Ya'll could have it and make a lot of pictures for me. LOL

Sorry I am late checking in here today. I had to take Bobbie to Atlanta today to the MS doctor. She got measured for a new wheel chair. This one will raise up and down and she will be able to lie back in it when she gets tired. Maybe go to some roundups. That driving in Atlanta is really bad and every road we usually take they were working on. That is confusing and when you look us and all the population of Georgia is on your bumper wanting to get by it really gets on my nerves. And Bobbie hollered when we were on 85 hey you are missing our exit and I take it and then discover that it ain't our exit. Oh well we wander around till we finally found the Sheppard Center. Then when we left and I knew where we normally got back on 85 and then when I got there it was a detour. Really wore me out.

Susan I am sure she will get a scholarship. She is only 13 and plays on a 17 yo team. All of my boys are tall like I am . Not as tall but tall. I am 6'6" and they are 6'2" to 6'4" range.
Susan I thought you might be taller than 6 foot. Hey I loved that story about your mom.

Everyone have a good day tomorrow. Pray for rain.

When I read that you were in Atlanta for MS, I knew you were going to Sheperd Center. Then I read on and you said Sheperd Center. I used to work there, when it was much smaller. It's a great hospital. My sis-in-law is still working there.

Well, get some rest. I'm tired just reading about you driving through Atlanta. Hate the traffic.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Well it is a small world. We have been going there since 2001. Sometimes 4 times a year and sometimes 2 times a year. Have you been there since they remodeled that place. I mean it is so nice and it was nice before but now it is really something else. Doctor Thrower the MS doctor there is from Hogansville just up the road from here. He is really a good doctor.

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

I think I left Shepherd in 1997 but I am still in touch with many of the employees there. I have not been there since they added the newest building. A few years ago, my DH had surgery at Piedmont and I would park at Shepherd, visit my friends and take the tunnel to Piedmont. It's easier to park at Shepherd than at Piedmont. I think at the time they were doing construction to Piedmont hospital.

Also, a friend of mine use to live in a neighborhood right across the street from Piedmont Hospital. Peachtree Road is very narrow and if you are not used to driving on it, it could make you really nervous. Let me know when you are coming to Shepherd again and I'll tell you the best way to get there. I don't think there is any "good" time for traffic in Atlanta. I am so convenient to everything that I hardly have to go more than 5 miles for my everyday needs. Once I recover from my ACL reconstruction, I'm going to get around on a bicycle. It will save some money on gas! It could be cool to get a moped too.

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

Chris, I'm waiting to hear back and will d-mail you as soon as i know.. The 5th is out for me too! :)

Jim, get your rest! Even though you had to deal with all that traffic, it's a good thing that Bobbie will be getting that chair to help out. It will improve lots for you both. I know all about missing exits.. The worst is when the next turn around is 15 miles up!.. Like in South GA.

Yes, she will get a scholarship Jim.. Good for her! I have a feeling my boys will tower over me by the end of high school. I'm super affectionate with them and love on them them all the time and I've already told them that they will be bigger than me one day and I will still pull them to me for lots of hugs and kisses so they better just get use to it. When they are fighting me on hugs, I ask them if they know the reason I had children, and they know the answer is to love them.. so they better let me hug them casue I'm not stopping till they do :)

I look like I'm over 6 feet cause I wear big shoes to make me look thinner!! :) Well... I've been working out and eating better so I really do look thinner now anyway! :) Yea... I like that story about my mom too and just as soon as i can get my backside into one of those skirts again, I aim to make her proud :) haha.

Y'all have a great day!

:)

Heya Cordeledawg! You can see pics of the development over here on this thread:

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/860827/

It will probably be next year before I have 'gardens' that are photo-worthy...LOL! Two years of underbrush and weeds to clear first :)

WTG Susan - I have a feeling that this lifestyle might help me shed some poundage - just the twice a day spring water hauling has shown me how out of shape I am. I'm just undertall, not overweight :)

Jim - I drove all of my life, road trips, hour long commutes to work, what have you - but I could not stand Atlanta traffic. It made me so nervous, I think I actually only drove like 6-8 times during our four years there. Up here, no traffic, and everyone drives so genteel-like. J's only complaint is that no one is in a hurry to get anywhere...lol. But they use signals, let you go first, don't speed and wave :)

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Well I guess it's a conclusion that Atlanta driving is something to avoid if possible.

Hineni I read your post of moving. Sounds like you are really happy with the move.

Lili it should be about 6-8 weeks before we have to go back for the wheelchair. I'll holler when it's time. Thanks

Susan, big shoes to make you look thinner. LOL

Paris, TN(Zone 6b)

Somehow my farm boots don't accomplish that...must need heels ;)

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

Yes, boots pack on the pounds, but heels in the garden are flattering and great for aeration right?... so long as you don't twist your ankle :) I have a very upscale friend who doesn't own a pair of flat shoes.. I've actually asked. She comes over in what I consider stilettos.. even while carring a baby and a diaper bag! I roll my eyes and give her my much too big sandals to walk the garden for her outdoors experience :) oh well.. even though she doesn't get dirty, she is a good friend :)

Doesn't mind the dirt,

Susan

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

Jim, if you want to meet for lunch when you both come back into town, let me know the day and see if we can make it happen :) Is Sheppard right next to Piedmont hospital? I know this might sound crazy.. but I've actually had some good food in that hospital cafeteria! :) ... So we don't have to make it hard on you both to do in the same day :) .... But I know it might be too much.. but just wanted to put it out there :)

Susan

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Hey folks, I lost my computer to a virus. Susan I will be going to get her wheelchair in a week or two. I found out today it won't be at the Shepard Center someplace about 7 miles north of there. We could meet I'll call you when times gets closer. Don't wear the boots. LOL

Cleveland,GA/Atlanta, GA(Zone 7b)

I'm about seven miles north of there. Wonder where it is?

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

Shepherd has a side location close to the hospital.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

The name of the company is Custom Healthcare,3097 Presidental Drive in Atlanta.

I'll do a search on it.

Marietta, GA(Zone 7b)

I'm back in town Jim.. let me know when.. just D-mailed you! :) Just back from Fl and passed you today. Thought of you!

Susan

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Yep about 10 miles. I live on the other side of Lagrange from I-85. Hope you had a good time.
I'll holler when the time comes.
