Hey there Jim!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! :)))
Just came in to wish you a great day.. I've got a crew here destroying my yard and garden to hook up a sewer line to the house. Made my husband promise me i can buy whatever i want to make it right when all is said and done! :) I wanted to take pictures of all the plants you've given me and show them here... i may be able to do that soon... But I'm digging up and moving as fast as I can right now! you and Bobbie have a great day!! :) My Strawberry Candy is Blooming! :)
The pic you liked! :)
Susan
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIM!! :)
Jim.. I just noticed the spiderwart in the back of that picture.... From YOU!! :)!!
:)
Susan
Happy Birthday Jim!! I hope you are having a great day.
Many happy returns - and here's wishing you many more wonderful years to come!
Thanks everyone. I have been hanging with Bobbie most of today.
Had a McDonald and sweet tea for lunch. Going to clean the house a little and then hit the sack early tonight.
Thanks again
Sweet dreams, Jim and best of all, Happy Birthday! I'm so glad to see that picture of the Spiderwort. I just planted six at my pond. I sure hope they will be as pretty as the ones Susan has.
A little warning about the Spiderwort it spreads like crazy. It is very pretty. I got the spiderwort from Granny Lois, Daves' mother at one of the roundups. I think it was in the first one in Tn.
Thanks Deb for the well wishes.
Here's a mass planting of the spiderwort. Now it was just one plant when I got it from Granny Lois. Sure spread everywhere. I just let it come up and then weed eat it down if it isn't where I want it.
This isn't this years photo. None of my plants look this good this year because of having to spend so much time at the nurseing home.
That's a great picture. I love the way it clumped in a mound. I may have planted mine too close together. Well, after seeing your picture, I know I did. I can move some of them once they get to growing. I planted 2 different cultivars of 3 plants each behind some EE's at the pond's edge. I hope they do spread. I'd love to have a water's edging of all spiderwort. That would be better than the alligator weed I'm fighting with.
Thanks and good luck with the spiderwort.
Thanks Danita you want me to start having birthdays more often. That's a pretty picture.
Mike yeah it's my birthday. You got it right and thanks for the well wishes. Pretty picture.
Deb, I don't think you can hurt that plant :) LOL! Plant it too far too close and it will just fill in all the spaces in between.. Yes, Jim, it does get big! The shoots remind me of onion shoots..with much prettier flowers :)
Hey Danita and Mike! How are your gardens going this year??
Susan
Thanks Chris.
Hi Chris!
Love those blooms Mike :)
I'll be outside working all day yesterday.. Put back most all of the sod that was taken up for the sewer line on Wed... i say most cause some seemed to be missing! I guess when you cut it out, it never goes back perfect. It should grow to fill in the spots where its missing though. I've got all kinds of things that need to be replanted back in.. So guess thats what I'll be doing today.
Jim, do you remember giving me big ear lambs ear a few years back?? Well, I've divided and divided and divided and now I'm going to divide again and I'm going to make that the edging plant all along the front edge of my front beds by the fence :) It will take a little time to fill in, but I know it will :) I Like it! :)
I'll take pictures!
I can't remember the name of this but it grows like crazy! I started with 5 bulbs and I've got about 25 or so after a few years.
Susan
Hey Jim, Happy Belated Birthday. As usual, I am late to the party.
Brenda
Sorry I am late Jim... I am on my DD's computer in Springfield... have been helping her out for a couple of days...
Hope you had a really Great B-day!!!!
Blessings, Starr
Boy I am beginning to love these belated birthday wishes.
I was at the nursing home with Bobbie on my birthday and one of the nurses I had told last week to get ready with a big hug when my birthday rolled around. She gave me a hug and I told her I was crazy. I should have asked for a hug on every day that wasn't my birthday. LOL
Didn't work.
Thanks everyone.
Happy Belated Birthday Jim :) I wish I had a bloom pic for you, but alas, I'm on the laptop with no photos :(
Even though I'm now gone from GA, I'll peek in from time to time to see what's happening.
Have a big ole' glass of sweet tea for me. Haven't had one of those since my Grandma got hit by a car and had a stroke (she has Alzheimers and was out walking around a 4 a.m. alone!) - she made THE best sweet tea.
Jim is too smart to miss out on anything :)
I've spent the day making the rounds today... From one garden shop to another. Husband took the kids for some fun of their own and I'm exhausted. My most unbelievable find of the day was Curcuma Siam Tulips from of all places HD! Here it is in the plant files :
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/706/
I'm thrilled! There were gardener gals in HD that had some in their cart and they were smart enough to know how rare a find they are around here. And when i was in line a woman just reached in and pointed and was going on about never having seen anything like it... I'm tickled :) Wish it would survive our winter.. Maybe in my basement?
Susan
Virginia is beautiful! :) Enjoy it.
Susan I brought some of those home from the swap a couple of years ago. Trying to remember who I got it from. It bloomed last year and was beautiful. This year it didn't come back. I guess the dry weather last year took it away.
I try not to miss out on any thing as Susan said. She sounds like she knows me quite well. LOL
Yeah Virginia is beautiful state. I used to say I was going to retire there. I have to grow up before I can retire.
Thanks again for the wishes. Just wish we were all at a roundup and sitting around drinking some of that sweet tea.
Hineni sorry to hear of your grandmother. Bobbie being in a nursing home I get to see all of the misery that is there with the older patients. Just heart breaking to see some of them and the shape they are in and no one seems to ever come to see some of them. Some of them just wander the hall ways and go into other patients room. We are constantly having to call the nurse's station to tell them to come and get some one out of Bobbie's room.
Jim, I hope Bobbie gets to come home soon - that must be very difficult to be around such misery and sadness.
Thanks, I go up the hall and pat the ones that I think know what's going on the back and try to make them feel better. I told Bobbie today that they are just put there to die. I've started calling it the funeral home instead of the nursing home. The first week Bobbie was there a woman across the hall died and then a man in the room next to her's also die. Bobbie hadn't been out of her room at the time the man died. She went out of the room up to the nurse's station in her wheelchair to get them to warm up a cup of coffee that I had brought her when she ran into the men from the funeral home taking the body up the hall. She said she was never coming out of the room again. Of course she did.
Don't get me wrong I do want her to come home but I also want her to get better before she comes. Right now she is where she can get help and get better. I think she understands that.
I do appreciate all of the concern and prayers for her and myself also.
Jim, thanks for the explanation - you are so right to want Bobbie to get the help she can get in a professional facility!!! You are both in my prayers.
Thanks Lili, good to hear from you. I am really liking all these belated birthday wishes. Want a glass of tea with the gang?
Oh I love that plumeria on your home page. I had 4 at one time but have gotten down to 0 now. Just my luck LOL
Here's a picture of my granddaughter that was born on my birthday. Her first dance recital. Her brother presented her roses.
or the cold over winter Jim maybe? They are tropicals.
Jim, I've had my hand pulled as I was walking by and not let go by folks in homes that were going to talk to me if they had to hold me there. I can't help but try to be gracious as I'm held hostage by those poor folks. I'm sorry about Bobbie and hope she recovers soon so you both can stay home in peace. Your grandkids are precious. Is that 'lulu' or is she another one? I wanted girls too, but I guess two boys is it. Jim, how many grandchildren are there total?
Hineni, were you going to Virginia to help your grandmother? So sorry.. I too had a relative that wandered off in the middle of the night. They decided to go ring someones doorbell in the middle of the night and of course the police were called.
Speaking of RU.. who's doing it in the fall? Are we skipping it due to drought? Wheres PJ? Vi wasn't at the last one either and she did them before that. Everyone who organizes them gets burnt out and moves on? I didn't need any more plants..
:)
Susan
I don't need the plants either. Just the fellowship. LOL
Susan, yes that is Lulu. I have 7 of them now. 4 boys and 3 girls. We went 58 years in our family without any girls. My older sister was 58 and she was the last girl in the family before my 13 yo granddaughter was born. Susan I don't know if I told you or not but she is 6 feet already. We need to put a brick on her head. She plays vollyball on a travel team and is really good. She looks skinny in the picture but has filled out some since then. She does 30 pushups 3 times a day.
Jim, that's awesome that you have a 13 year old granddaughter playing basketball!!! She just looks tall and lean to me. And the little dancer is adorable - how sweet to have her brother give her a bouquet!
Nice family you have.
Well Jim, it's a lovely place to live and seems like a great place to retire. I'm praying this will be where I retire as well :)
I'm glad you're getting to see Bobbie a lot, and it sounds like you're bringing cheer to more than just here when you visit, just like you do to us here. You obviously have talented and beautiful grandchildren too, many blessings around you sir :)
Susan - no, my grandmother lives with my uncle down in Florida. I'm the only wanderer in the family. Everyone else came to Florida from Virginia and Georgia and stayed. I was born there and went from Florida, to Georgia, to Virginia. Backtracking I guess :)
We have a heckuva storm coming, so I'd better round up the new puppies (two new Great Pyrs) and the Jack Russell into their cages before everyone gets freaked out, and shut all the windows.
Maybe we can make Jim's birthday last at least a month :D
Jim, beautiful grandchildren and yes I'll have that glass of tea. I grew up in Charleston, SC and I love my tea. My DH family are from Chicago, so they don't drink sweet tea. LOL!
My son is 13 and he is no where near 6ft. Good grief! But most of the girls in his class are taller than him. He is going through a growth spurts right now. I am sure he will get some height. Both my DH and I are not tall. I am short and he is average, but all his female cousins (in Chicago) are over 6ft tall. Hope they passed some of those gene pool down to my kids.
Soulgarden, I sent you Dmail. I want to know about those tulips at HD....
Hi Susan!
I dont think I would want to be on the other end of Lulu's spike.
I agree with Heneni. We could make Jim's B-day last a month.
How about Birthday cake at my house? Bring you swimsuits.
chris
