Every year in late June these little guys appear around our pond in upstate New York. This one was flitting from one white clover flower to the next. They are no more than in inch in width. Does anyone know what they are? Here is a shot with wings open.
CLOSED: Small orange butterfly?
A Skipper of some sort.
Maybe a European Skipper, Thymelicus lineola;
