It found some food but only took tiny pieces.

Even with small pieces it seemed to struggle eating.

Then in came the Blackbird! I'll just post the pics in sequence, they tell the story well!

Your photos are awesome, but you captions put them over the top. LOL

The parent Jackdaw returned to the pergola behind, where the nuts are, the Blackbirds were wary of the adult! I think it sneaked another bit of food, then the Blackbirds warily got their share.

This female Blackbird would side slowly up to the food, grab a bit and run into the plants behind for cover! Once she must have got scared as she jumped suddenly, reminded me of being scared of the boogey man!

Thanks katie, glad you enjoyed them!

Here she is siding up to the food again, as if she's not there really!

The male Blackbird then took his chances, ran in quickly and grabbed the lot!

Here he is flying off with a huge chunk of stuck together muesli! It was getting very overcast by then but you can see the mouthfull he has!

Jumping Jackdaws, Wallaby. Wonderful entertainment. Thanks.

poor little juvie....

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Lol, never a dull moment! cparts, show your daughter this and she might change her mind!

The jump was funny, not to mention the expression! Without a camera to capture it we would never know would we!

Yesterday there was two Blue Tit babes still being fed by a parent on the peanut silo, this one with the white around it's eyes seemed to be there most. I began to feel sorry for the parent, feeding these never stops!

I have so many pics it's hard ot select a few, trying to pick out the best!

Hey, what's this, candid camera?

Oh boy, am I getting fed up with this game. Someone take this kid off me please!

Before long babe got left on it's own. Ma, pa, don't leave me with this!

Later in the afternoon another babe looked longing at the nuts, wondering if they would jump into it's mouth like magic.

Shortly joined by the white eyed babe.

OK kids, I want to see you trying.

Look at me (and me!), we are doing our best!

What's that in the sky, it's a bird! Lol, there was a small aeroplane high up later, one looked about 3 times then flew!

The parent dropped to the ground to take a look at me, you don't see them on the ground normally. It was probably tired of hanging upside down feeding mouths!

Going for a walk for a change! Poor thing is starting to look worn and tatty.

Ten minutes later I caught up with them in the oak tree at the end of my drive.

Parent was there again, frantically finding delectable tidbits for the babes who seemed to be finding some for themselves too.

Soon after 5pm I went to the back fence. Not far into the neighbour's garden I saw the young Robin. It saw me too, and flew to the fence near me!

This must have been the one I encountered in the greenhouse, which was just behind the fence where the Robin landed. It then tried to fly into the greenhouse, but that was the back, it might have been going to the other one which has a missing panel.

It's moulting rapidly!

This afternoon after taking yet more pics of the baby Blue Tits, which by now seemed to be able to get some food of their own, I went out to the road to take a look.

The Pied Wagtail was there and had just gone to feed it's baby! First time I have seen it! The parent ran to the other side of the road, babe sat near the middle of the road. This was dangerous, but they seem to find food there.

I heard a vehicle behind me and started towards the bird telling it to fly!

It just stood there, the vehicle was a 4 wheel drive and slowed a little as it passed the babe but if it had flown into the wheels it would have been a goner. It didn't move and was only a couple of feet from it!

I got closer and took a closer pic, then it flew!

Parent Pied Wagtail flew about making noises then went into my oak tree where the babe had gone. I was taking pics of it while it watched me with interest.

Thanks pelle :~))

They have given me much pleasure, I hope others have found pleasure in them too.

Cold and wet today so I will be able to catch up on other things, lol. That is posting pics, I have others which need a thread of their own.

Another shot of the young Robin I got later yesterday, it looks unhappy and lonely!
