I had a whole swarm of these come out of the ground when I was watering .. they were not aggressive at all. Are they keepers?

CLOSED: What kind of wasp?
This one of the wasps in the family Vespidae, genus Vespula, commonly referred to as yellowjackets; possibly the eastern yellowjacket (Vespula maculifrons) - see http://www.discoverlife.org/mp/20q?search=Vespula+maculifrons. Yellowjackets can be rather cantankerous when their nests are disturbed; I have been severely stung when I accidentally dug into such a nest.
Thanks! .. these guys just flew all around me, didn't try to sting or anything.
