Berkeley, CA(Zone 10a)

And Beck, the scent is amazingly powerful. Don't plant one unless you like your entire house scented like paradise!

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Portland, OR

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

Marvelous! Can see why the good doctor is so popular throughout California!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9b)

Awesome plant, I'd feel the urge to nap continuously!

Watertown, NY

The legands in south America where these plants grow wild say" Never sleep under a brugmansia", There are different claims, it will make you crazy I belive is the most popular reason. Maybe it's the wonderful fragrance.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Wow Annie, making me jeaulous lady! What a setting you have there and those blooms are just to die for! Clemen

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

Nice flush...I love the yellow/gold brugs...maybe because i see too much pink here.......

Berkeley, CA(Zone 10a)

thanks so much guys. Its so great to have brug lovers to share this with. I am a proud mama, and you guys made me feel great!
My Guatemalan friend says,if you sleep under it you'll dream of the ancestors. At any rate its such a magical plant, just looking at brugs makes me filled with desire to own. Its a zen thing, fighting this need to brug. Brugs are winning,i have 7. :-)
Again thanks so much for sharing with me.

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

Great planting Annie.. it really works as the perfect canopy.. and the blooms are so cooperative.. shade...rain shield.. and air freshner...
Yes ..Brenda.. the old myth came to mind right away..if , as they say , sleeping under brug blooms will cause you to lose it... sleeping there is an invation to divinity..
Gordon

I think they may seduce you into wanting ...more ...more ...more
thankyou for the lovely pictures ...my favourite view is looking up too.

Annie... is Dr Suess the only brug you have?? Just curious how old she is and what you feed her to be so luciuosly beautiful!! Is she in a pot, or in the ground? I could use all the advise anyone is willing to give me! TY..

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Fantastic! I can't wait for mine to grow up and bloom! I have pink AND yello, but right now they're just putting on leaves. If just one of them gets half as pretty as yours, I'll be in ecstacy!

Thanks guys...the amazing thing is..(and i have my dh sworn to secrecy) It was an prolific plant before i started babying it.It likes where it is.AND it really responds to dead heading. It keeps popping out new buds all summer if i keep dead heading. And its practically a carnivorous plant with the amount of fish emulsion i use. Its in the ground beck, and it it like it.I have side dressed Pumpkins with whole fish before..if i did that with this plant,i'd go broke!
Beck I pruned this baby into a canopy by first trimming the bottom leaves(almost like a standard) and continuously nipping the ends of the branches, while ignoring most top growth. I also talk to it,thank it and kiss it.
Thanks for the appreciation all. I just WISH you could SMELL it.
Did you guys see that 200 $ brug?????(someone said they die just as quickly as a cheap one!)

Becky, my mother, in Fremont, CA, had a Dr. Seuss that rivaled Annie's. She pruned it back each spring to keep it from swallowing the plants on either side. It took between 4 and 5 years to get that size.

Annie.. we've been talking about our puters being "constipated" on another brug thread...LOL I think yours has it bad!!

Betty.. that is just amazing to me... is it Cal. they love soo much?.. maybe it is mine are soo little and tender, that I am rushing them to much?! It also amazes me that my cousin here has a brug and she doesn't even feed the thing and it blooms it's head off!!.. between yellow.(!) leaves..lol I thing they grow even on neglect.. for some people that is...

Berkeley, CA(Zone 10a)

So good to see familiar "faces" over here...nothing to say that hasn't been already - THAT is simply amazing...just magical....I'd be napping every single day...

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Becky, it's just that some parts of Calif. usually don't go below 30º. Here in Texas, you'd have to live near Brownsville to avoid a freeze. I've lived most of my life in the SF Bay Area. I love that I could grow just about anything because the temperatures, except for two instances that I remember, stay above 30º and the area gets a large number of chill hours, important when growing fruit.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Ohhhh... TY Betty.. that explains alot!! I think I'll keep my babies in the pots till they get a little bigger then...

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

So guys is mine a Dr Seus?? When i bought her, she had no name, I call her mama Brug!
