I got this plant last year but didn't know what it was exactly - obviously a Campanula, but wasn't sure which one until I dug up the plant tag last weekend. I looked in every nursery in the area (I did not purchase the plant myself) and nobody had it. It is a terrific border plant that never stopped blooming from June through October last year. It was just covered with white flowers non-stop for months and I was surprised that i could not find it at local nurseries because it is such a great performer. The tag said it was Campanula White Pearl. Anyway, I thought I would post it and let people know. I think it reseeds; I have some babies but they aren't big enough to bloom.
This is a great plant, have you seen it around?
I'll certainly put it on my must-have list. Looks lovely and would probably do great here.
It is a beautiful plant. Have you noticed the butterflies enjoying the flowers?
Thanks,
Chuck
Hi!
Could it be Nierembergia?

I had some years ago and loved them!
Ursula
Ursula, you are correct - the flowers do look very much like Nierembergia, but the flowers on this plant are bigger and the foliage is definitely the small blue-green leaves and milky sap of Campanula. I have seen many pretty blue campanulas at nurseries, but nobody seems to carry the white one. I just wanted to let everyone know what a great plant it is, although I can't recommend anywhere to find it. I was very impressed with its non-stop bloom last year, it was a flower machine!
Might it be 'White Clips'? Scroll down toward the bottom of this page to see the pic http://www.bigdipperfarm.com/cgi-bin/searchstuff.pl?Botanical=Campanula
ecrane3, you are correct, it looks very much like White Clips. I will try asking for that in the local nurseries. Thanks for putting me on the right track!!
If you can't find it locally, I've had good luck with mail order from Big Dipper so you could always order it from them.
What you have is Campanula carpatica, probably a named hybrid. If you go to this site http://ivygarth.com/images/Perennials.htm and scroll down to C. Carpatica you can click on the photos of the white ones. Lots of different hybrids.
We can't grow Campanula here, too warm. We have to make do with other plants>
Oh my. Based on the link you sent dale, White Clips is a C. carpatica hybrid, as is Pearl, which is what I believe I have - the image was exactly like what I have. It stands up very well to our hot Sacramento summers, but we do not have the humidity that you do. Mine started blooming about the first of June and won't quit until November. Thank you very much.
Your welcome
Ivy Garth is wholesale only (I think?). I don't buy much seed, but, that is where I get mine for the greenhouse. With campanula it is the humidty, not the heat. We have so many diseases that come with the combo of heat and humidity here that most 'up north' plants struggle to survive the summer.
We have some nice winter plants tho>
