I found this bug laying on the floor after a gust of wind blew in. It has six small legs under the shell that don't show from the top. I have more pictures & I saved the bug. It has never moved.

I don't know what this is but it looks like a baby crab. Interesting...
This is a tortoise beetle (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae; subfamily Cassidinae). They feed primarily on members of the morning glory family (Convolvulaceae). This one could be the mottled/clavate tortoise beetle, Deloyala clavata - see http://www.cirrusimage.com/beetles_tortoise.htm
