I sure do appreciate all of the help with the tables, the sweeping and the kitchen clean-up. You were a great bunch of DG'ers! I hope to do this again next year. We will just use the air conditioned part of the building next time.
The food was awesome, the fun was great and the plants plentiful! The game was a blast!

Charlene, those are so small I can't tell who is who in some of them. But it looks like a wonderful place to have a swap!! I so wish I could have been there! I haven't ruled out East TX but I am not making any plans yet, that way I am not dissappointed.
I bet I can pick out Beck.....doing the rasberry maybe???

I am not good enough at names. Please forgive me, I love you all and hope to remember all the names soon enough. I just get so used to the DG names and .....oh well, I'm guilty of sometimers disease. Sometimes I remember and sometimes I don't. I remembered really well with the name tags on. LOL The guy reading the newspaper in the background is my DH. The smallest figure on the far left is Becky.

Well, I had hoped to have something hatching out in the incubator while you guys were here. I missed it by a day. Becky missed it by a half hour. She was inside with me and we could hear peeping, but no babies. No sooner than she left, eggs were cracking open and out came two guineas.
Mamajack (Barbara) is coming up on later this week. I am hoping Barbara's kids will get here early enough on Wednesday to see the chickens hatching in the incubator that are due out that day.
I will upload photos as soon as I charge some batteries.
I took my camera on our "hayless hayride". I just never got to take any pictures, so I am anxious to see those. The first leg of that was a rough ride. DH was not aware of the bounces we were taking so rough. Even though after he slowed, Sylvia still stayed laying down. Glad he slowed down. After that, he even parked in the shade while he walked back to close gates.
Josephine showed us so many plants that I never new were nice plants to bring up into the yard. Goat's rue and beauty berry were a few.
Anyone who missed out on the ride missed out on Sylvia's questions and if you missed that, it was a big loss to you. She cracked us up with her questions about changing a bull to a steer. When the calves and mama cows came right up close, she said how on earth could we eat that off a plate after looking into those big eyes. I'm just disappointed that the bull didn't come out of the woods. He is very big and I would have loved to see her reaction to him!!
I hope someone took some pictures of our game playing. As soon as Josephine gets her 'puter going, she always has a ton of photos.

Just got all the plants out of the camper, and of course just got home.
Charlene... I have to thank you for deciding to host the RU...My First, and will always be my most memorable.. I just couldn't help but fall in love with you "sis".... you are one of the sweetest people I know!!

Omigosh, what is that noise? Oh, it's just Becky singing? That picture is YOU! Wow, I am glad you love me, I have a new sis!! I love you too. You just barely missed the guineas. Two were out when I came back inside after seeing you off. I think the rest are awaiting the appointed date which is tomorrow.
Josephine, you great lady! that picture is how you look and you should be proud of it. I bet Frank is very proud. You are absolutely beautiful in every way.
You know we could do a weekend thing here. There is plenty of room. I could get the extra light pole hooked up on the hill by the large American Holly and we could put several travel trailers up there. We could have a canopy in case of rain. In January I am getting a nice porch, so we'd have that too. Some could camp out inside in my guest room and on the sofa and pallets. Some could bring tents. Now that is the way the very first roundup got started. Pick anytime anyone wants to do that and I'll be on the way to getting that going.

Yes, in Buffalo there are two I think. That's about 15 minutes from here. Sheila, you and your DH could take the guest room. Special privileges due to anyone not feeling so well sometimes could be arranged.
I have a huge queen sized air mattress for anyone else that needs to stay inside with me and off the sofa or floor.
Plus I bet anyone who has a travel trailer has a pull out bed of some sort for extra folks.

Well mama your ears ought to be burning cuz I was just fussing in a d-mail to Becky that you hadn't called as you promised and I am ready for bed.
You and the kids need to get here early on Wednesday because I should have babies hatching that day. The kids would enjoy seeing that.
By the way Becky dear!! You would come WHEN? Oh no, you don't!! If I host a weekend retreat, you will come early and help your big sis! Or I will tell the principal on you for starting this idea. (hehehe that is her DH, a former school principal) We could plan so many things for that event. Basket weaving classes, potluck suppers, propagating classes, plant bingo and plant cakewalk, trip to the nursery, visit some gardens, and ....and.....s'mores. (I got stuff for s'mores for EV and Jack for this week)

here's the squash Pickle recipe:
8 cups sliced squash
4 bell peppers.. sliced, diced..however you want them
3 large white onions.. sliced
1 3 oz. jar pimintoes
1/4 cup course salt
3 cups sugar
2 cups white vinegar
Put squash, onions and peppers in a large container. Cover with ice and let sit for 4 hours. Drain.
put salt sugar and vinegar in very large pot. Bring to a boil, add squash mixture, turning the squash to get all of it in the hot liquid. Bring to a boil again and put in canning jars, using hot lids. Invert for 5 minutes.
I don't use as much pepers, as i don't care for them as well, and I also use about 16 cups of squash instead of the 8 that is called for in the recipe.
You will think there is not enough liquid, but as the squash mixture heats up, the water from the squash adds to the liquid.

mama.. if you are talking about me... heck no... you should have been at the ru and ate my baked beans.. I baked them for 2 1/2 hours in the oven at the ru.. they were rocks.. instead of baked beans..LOL No one said anything.. everyone is sooo nice.. but I forgot about them..I was running around in the gym.....LOL now that's nothing new for me.. forgetting that is...hehe
