CLOSED: Dragonfly in DC

This dragonfly landed on our porch in DC this weekend. It remained in the same spot as where we first saw it, and unfortunately died overnight.

This is a darner (Odonata: Aeschnidae); possibly the swamp darner (Epiaeschna heros) - see http://www.bigeastern.com/eotp/epiaeschna_heros.htm
Note the blue eyes.
