They're not growing.....

Redondo Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Living in Southern Cal. I planted from seeds moon flowers and morning glories. They grew about 3-4 inches tall (all leaves) and they just don't seem to be wanting to grow any taller!! Any ideas at all what could possibly be going wrong? Thanks all!!

That is odd, is it really hot and dry where your garden is?

I'd water them with some Bloom Booster by MiracleGro. Just follow the directions on the back of the box. That might jump start their growth and blooms! Good luck!

I have had the same problem with mine. They grow 3" to 4" and then just sit there for a while (a few weeks). Maybe they are building a more extensive root system, I don't know, but then all of a sudden they just take off. As long as they look healthy, just try to be patient. I know that is difficult, though!!

Mine did the same thing but then they fall over and die before they get second leaves. I tried new soil this year and I water. Nothing seems to help. I am trying to grow them in a kind of hollowed ot huge tree. I want then to climb on the tree. They have full morning sun and part sun and shade in late afternoon. What's wrong?

Are your temps consistantly at 70 degrees or higher? Anything lower than that and MGs just sit there....

I think that might be my problem. So I am going to try again.

I'm having the same problem 2 years in a row here. 3" - 4" and then they sit there. Enough light, good soil & irrigation and they look healthy enough. It's a shame because I'm about to the point where I don't want to bother with them anymore. Perhaps I'll dig one up and bring it into the house for a try. At least now I know that it isn't just me! LOL

Are you fertilizing them? They are not getting chewed at the top of the vine anywhere?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Mine are having poblems too,one large pot is growing over the fence, but no blooms, another pot grew up a post ,never bloomed ,and is dying.I am thinking my city water is having something to do with it,some plants are ok,some don't make it.

Caro, MI(Zone 5a)

Nothing is nibbling them & I've been fertilizing them with All Purpose MiracleGro. I haven't tried Bloom Booster by MiracleGro yet though. Thanks for the suggestion! Now I'm wondering if the soil is too acidic. hmmm I guess I'm not giving up yet. LOL
