found this cluster of bugs in the mulch... any ideas what they are and how I can control them (nice way of saying kindly remove them permanently)

Probably newly hatched boxelder bug nymph - see previous posting.
probably box elder bugs (Boisea trivittatus)... the little one is a juvenile. Milkweed bugs look almost identical.
