Strangest place you collected seed or taken cutting from

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

I am always looking for good spots to get new cuttings, I like parking lots and office buildings. I generally try to go for the ones that are usually manacured but are over due. I guess I feel giuilty about takeing cuttings but they are going to be trimmed anyway. last year I took cutting from a car dealers lot that had moved out and is still vacant ;>{ )

Check out the plants at cemetaries - they have a variety of perennials and annuals in ours. The hanging baskets are always needing 'pruning', which only makes them grow bushier, so go for it!!! The rose bushes are always getting a trimming in the cemetary where Gary was laid to rest - old roses as well as modern ones, and some gorgeous fragrant ones. I love to stroll through a cemetary with my clippers and wet paper towels!

Moss Point, MS(Zone 8b)

I just escaped a nursing home where I was in rehab after broken bones. I told the staff to please bring me any plants they saw in the trash. That got me an ivy leaved geraneum and 2 gerbera daisies. People throw them out when they quit blooming. My daughter works in a hospital and I've begged her to bring me discarded plants but she refuses.

I used to be in the real estate business and kept shears and a shovel handy for opportunities at vacant houses I visited or bought. They were distressed properties and the plants were unloved.

I also take small cuttings from things hanging over fences by sidewalks. I liberated some lantana and purple heart from the utility office. I've also gotten some goodies from trash heaps put out by the street. I guess I'm shameless.

When my Father died one of the flower arrangements sent to the family had several twigs of Curly Willow. Others were taking a flower as a memento I took the Willow. They all sprouted and I had trees to share with brother and sister.

I went to a formal banquet last Fall. There were beautiful stalks of seed pods in the flower arrangements, some "accidentally fell" in my pocket. I still haven't planted them, I keep hoping I'll find out what they are first. LOL
