Poulsbo, WA

This is for Laurie1, the virtual tour of Heidi's Dragonfly Nursery.
Gordon challenged me to get out of there without spending one hundred dollars,
and I thought, why would I want to! I figure it works out to about 100. an hour,
so at close to three hours, I decided I had better pick up my camera.
It will take me a while to sort through all of the images, and do any clean-up
of leaves on the grass, etc., but here are some of my favs in mini versions.

So did you have fun? What were your favs of the things you brought home?

Great pictures . . .

It was marvelous, there were times when no one was there,
and I could have been in any botanical garden in world, sort of a mini vacation!
Gordon was fun and informative, but had to rush off due to family plans.

Ummm, favs of what I brought home?
Isn't that kind of like asking, "What's your favorite plant?"
;)
I finally bought an Autumn Moon JM, so that has to be it.
Let me find my receipt and I'll let you know.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Yes, I guess it's hard. People usually respond with the name of a plant and then add another and another . . . we can't pick just one. LOL

I love your pictures. They should go in Heidi's portfolio for her landscaping business. Wish I could see them even closer!! That laburnum is too beautiful. I so wish they weren't so toxic - I would get one in an instant.

Poulsbo, WA

I have no idea which shot the laburnum is in, because I don't know what it is!
I just took pictures of preeety things. :)
I will definitely put the large shots in when I get them all resized for the web,
right now they are almost 10 mg files, each.
Heidi said she was pleased that I was taking photos and that she would like
to have some of them, so I took tons. Will go back twice a month to catch the changes.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

It's that big yellow tree with the panicles hanging down that is on the driveway in. It just makes such an impact. I love the contrasts in your shots. Please let me know when you put them on the Web. I'd love to look at them some more. I think Heidi will be very pleased at what you got.

Nice job.

Poulsbo, WA

Is that what is called a rain tree? What part is toxic?
I will be putting all the shots here on this thread.
Time to go beddy-bye for me.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Golden raintree is koelreuteria paniculata.

Golden-chain tree is laburnum anagyroides. All parts are toxic - flowers, seeds, leaves.

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

Wow, I love the picture this time of year...what a difference from the other two times.

Poulsbo, WA

Heidi said that most people visit either early in the year, or late, often missing the laburnum
and other blooming plants. There is a flower stalk that looks 10 feet tall that is getting ready to bloom.
I didn't catch the name, but I am sure Heidi could tell you.

BTW, Gordon drove off with his trunk full of little JMs from me,
so ya'll close to him, make him share. ;)

Neo - thank you so much!!! What a knock out set of photos! And what a garden Heidi has made - I'm trying to remember the very famous garden in southern mexico I think it is below Oaxaca - designed by an English sculptor - but I am having one of those moments where names and words just don't come up - but Dragonfly reminds me so much of that place - not the same but a very similar personal relationship with greenery.

Please resize and load ASAP - I want to drool.

So when is the collaborative book coming out? You have an exquisite eye. I'm ready to sign up for your classes - do you do distance teaching?

Okay - the sculptor I was trying to recall was Edward James, and his garden is Las Pozas in Xilitla, Hidalgo - take a look at these photos and add it to your gardening (and photography) envy - http://www.junglegossip.com/pozas.html

Great photos Neo ~ Thanks for the motivation. I think I need to visit Heidi's again next Saturday! Anyone up for a field trip?

(Edited to add:) Nice link Laurie. Didn't look at it until after I hit send. Wow...I could live there ~ *sigh*

Laurie, you do know the coolest stuff. I totally need to go there! Must send link to DH to plant the little seed of knowlege...

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Great photos, we should get all of them together and make Heidi a year book.
When you plan your next trip, hopefully I might get to go with you. we'll be home July 5th and 6th.

Poulsbo, WA

That would be fun! I'll make my calendar. . .

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Oh, a year book for Heidi would be such a nice present - we all get so much pleasure from her nursery and garden!

And Pix, you lovely woman - thank you for the compliment! Oh, I do hope you get to go - if I ever do get on a plane again, that is way up on my wish list! - and i think you are the perfect perfect person to go there!

We could make her a website through snapfish or photobucket or picassa. Then she could direct people to that site to see loads of photos. I don't know how she does it. somehow I think she manages to expand time so that she has more than 24 hours in a day.

Poulsbo, WA

That is an even better idea, than a single printed portfolio book.
Having taught web interface design classes, you'd think I'd have my own site!
My oldest son is a web designer/coder. I designed a site, and one of these days he will script it for me.
So if you guys have a good site for hosting images, ie photobucket, just pick one and I'll start dumping images.
Should be something pro looking with as few ads as possible.
Does she have a domain name?

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I think so. Isn't this her domain name?

My dh really likes Picassa, but I don't know much about it. I find photobucket to be a bit slow and cumbersome. My dh is a web developer/programmer, too. Check out his website:
www.geekboys.com.. It's very much for geeks. This one is nothing fancy,, just straight stuff.

Neo, did you see the tread I made
These where the first and second trips, of the pics I took, didn't have access to anyone else's

Kingston, WA

Oh Neo you out did yourself. It sure does look great and I can't believe it is even my yard. I am always zipping here or there and sometimes don't see certain things. We have a great bunch of photos between tilly and neo it looks great. I had a great group from Seattle here today and they were happy even in the drizzle. I hope the weather get better someday. Thanks again Heidi and Dragonfly

Poulsbo, WA

Hey, you are the one who created something to photograph!
I just looked for those special views through the meandering paths.
I was wondering if there is a way to put images on your website?
I didn't see a gallery area.

Kingston, WA

I didn't have a gallery because I didn't have any photos. If you could d-mail me your e-mail address and I will hook you up with the lady who does my website and maybe she could put up a gallery. I sure do appreciate all your support. Thanks Heidi and Dragonfly

Poulsbo, WA

First of all, I CANNOT believe that you don't have a photo gallery of your stunning gardens!
The masses are being deprived of their beauty!
Second, I would love to pass off images to your web master.

Truer words were never spoken! It is unspeakable that she doesn't yet have a gallery!

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

She was waiting for Neo

Poulsbo, WA

Laurie, sweet thought! I need to get going on those images asap for Heidi, and I promise to post some larger ones here!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Thats going to be real cool for Heidi.

I'm heading up there on Friday. Looking forward to seeing it again with lots of things in bloom!

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

owww, Pix, stop and have a hello thought for me.

Poulsbo, WA

What time Friday? I would love to meet up with you, if you don't mind.

Hey, that would be great neofarmer! I will likely be leaving Tacoma around noon, putting me at Dragonfly around 1:30 or so. I generally stay a couple of hours getting in Heidi's way. I will dmail you my cell phone number so you can give me a call in the early afternoon. I can be more definitive about the time at that point.

Poulsbo, WA

Great! I have an appointment in the morning, until about 11:30, so I will grab a bite for lunch then head towards Heidi's and do some more photography. I want to shoot on a sunny day as well as a cloudy, so hopefully the sun will cooperate.

I finally got the images from the first trip up on the garden blog.
The second trip was sunny, so hopefully will get those images up more quickly!
