CLOSED: Another mosquito looking thing

But I'm pretty sure this one isn't...there were thousands of them down by the river...I know they aren't mayflies, they'll be along soon...a wee bit smaller than a mosquito...funny antenna like the male mosquito, but more fan-like.

It's a non-biting midge, family: Chironomidae, Order: Diptera

I couldn't say if yours is the same as mine, they come in different colours including blue and black. The non-biting midges hold their front legs up as opposed to Mosquitoes which rest with their back legs up.
