CLOSED: Insect on Lilac

(Zone 7a)

Can anyone, please, tell me what this is? I've seen them before and don't know if I should kill them or keep them.

This is a Leafhopper, they do little damage and live on saps.

I have lots of lady beetles. Will they eat these?

I think lady beetles will eat aphids but haven't heard of them eating these. If you are organic you will find all sorts of predators turning up in your garden, a whole interesting food chains emerges. I don't have to even worry about aphids now, they disappear quickly, house sparrows eat aphids too and I imagine birds might eat leafhoppers. There is a whole range of wasps which prey on any living bug too.

Okay, good. I don't use chemicals, if I can help it. We've got bird feeders up and have planted several things to encourage birds, bees, butterflies. LOTS of lady beetles eat my aphids. I defoliate roses when I have problems there. Hubby will spray for weeds when it gets extreme but never where I tell him not to. LOL
