Blooms: 4paws' Gladiolus & Lilies

Northwest, MO(Zone 5a)

4Paws...thanks for your detailed thread....I was one that dmailed bleek about the yellow tiger being an orange bloom.

After reading your post....I must say, I need to thank bleek for all his time and effort in bringing us such an outstanding product at such a great price. I have participated in many coops since joining Dave's several years ago, and for the most part have been immensely happy with the proudct I receive. I will do like gemini_sage and be happy with what I got for such a wonderful price...and I will just create my own name for this orange tiger.

Thanks again 4paws and bleek for all your hard work you put forth in handling these coops for the plant addicted people.

As I tell most people....I spend my biggest majority of disposable income on plants....that's my drug of choice :)

Me, too, Debsroots - and online. I live so far from everything that I'm thrilled to get my fixes this way!

Now I wish I had ordered the yellow tiger. That orange lily sounds wonderful. I love the orange ones.

You should see my gardens with all my new lilies. No blooms yet, but Buds everywhere. What a show I'll have this year thanks to great co-ops like this one. I'll be sure to post pics when they do bloom.

Thank you again.

I mean no harm in saying this, only to let others know. The Tiger Lily is not the only mix up. I, like some others, had mix ups on other lilies as well. Pup Art and Double Sphynx are 2 others. As far as the glads, so far I've had 2 out of 5 I believe bloom. Neither are what I ordered... but I'm just going to not worry about it.

I am in no way blaming Bleek. And I realize that we received the bulbs at a great price. So I'm not totally dissatisfied with the co-op. But I also believe in letting folks know there could be a problem.

Take care,
Donna

Hi Bert,
This is my Elodie, will it bloom double next year?
If this is not Elodie, do you have a name for it, also do you have a name for the yellow tiger? As you can see I do keep all named plants tagged right & would like to fix the 2.Thanks :)Pita

Anita, I can see that the stamens are pink and kind of widened at the base, I think thats a good sign. Typically Elodie has extra petals instead of stamens, or rather the stamens have become modified into petals. I think theres a good chance it will bloom normally next year. In other words, I think theres a good chance that is Elodie after all :-)

NYVOICES99,

Did you by any chance order Pup Art? I think this one might be what got mixed up with it. Just a guess, as I also got the one shown in your picture. I did order the Elodi, got Elodie by chance in place of the Double Sphynx I also ordered. This seems to be the pattern.

Edited to add that the Elodie I received bloomed as it should... a double. That is an unknown. Bleek has been unable to find out what it is.

Thanks Neal, But Bert says, no it wont be Elodie ever:(

Donna, No I did not order Pup Art? Will see if it matches & fix the name on it & yes I know the seller has no clue what we got. If I only had a name I would be very happy:)Anita

I name it "Pretty in Pink". ^_^

Anita, I've got those from your pic too! Just opened today, and have the same odd stamens, like its trying to be a double. But I was really bad- I didn't label a thing! I know where Elodie and Petite Pink are and am sure its neither of those. And mine are quite tall, but growing in partial shade which makes them stretch a bit. They're in a spot I was planting pinks in, so I put them in the right place. Geez, I'll probably spend the next 10 years trying to match names with lilies, LOL. Have you looked at any of the Lily Society data bases?

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

it looks like vermeer or how ever it is spelled!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

I have a Vermeer as well... is not it either.

Donna

For those of you that ordered Glad Flevo Safari...you might want to know that it is wrong. Mine's blooming now and I think I've identified it as Glad Jester. I'll post a picture in a little while. FYI, not complaining, lol. I'm very happy and just trying to help those who like things to be properly labeled.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Yeah, that's one of the ones that was incorrect with mine. So far, the only right one is Friendship... the all white one.

My Pins Claus, the "Orchid" Glad.... hasn't even come up at all.

As far as glads... I ordered Black Beauty, Flevo Safari, Grande Passion and White Friendship... along with an Orchid glad of Prins Claus.

The only one I can say I have is the White Friendship. My orchid glad hasn't even come up.

I'm sorry that's the case. It shouldn't be and I don't know what to say, since I didn't get any delivered to me.

Some of yours are blooming for me, Laura...I'll have to get out and see what the tags say and look up the pics of what they should be. Won't be for a couple of days, though. We're going to be at ECU helping the DD move out of the dorm and into a house. A bit dark out to go look right now, lol!

:-)
One, one glad out of about 50 has a stalk on it! I thought they'd be faster here; these were planted spring 2007.

Tgg, I hope you like purple. :-)

Garner, NC(Zone 7b)

Just got back home, and yes I do like purple! Gotta get out in the am and see what's happened out there:-)
