My Favorite Chipmunk
Paul,
That's hysterical!!! I can just see the pecans flying!!
When my daughter and I lived in a rental house downtown -- before we moved up here to the boonies -- there was a squirrel lived in the giant water oak in the front yard. We called him "The Six O'clock Squirrel" because every night he came home to his tree at 6:00 pm, give or take a few minutes, and every morning he left his tree at 6:00 am, within a few minutes of that anyway.
This squirrel hung out in the yard next door. He used the same path every day, coming and going. At night he would come down the driveway next door, make a sharp right turn at the gutter, down the gutter to our sidewalk, sharp right turn again onto the sidewalk, up the sidewalk to his tree, sharp left onto the grass and up the tree. In the morning he used exactly the same path, except in reverse. Animals are such fun!!
Many years ago when I worked for the California Youth Authority, there were several small bungalow-type houses across the street. We would often see this gentleman sitting on his front porch. One day we looked out, and he was stretched way down, learning out of his chair with his arm on the floor, reaching out. OMG! Did he have a heart attack? A stroke? One parole agent was on the verge of running down the stairs and across the street to rescue the gentleman when someone finally saw the bird -- there was a little sparrow about two feet from the end of the gentleman's fingers -- he was trying to coax the bird to come eat out of his hand. Thank goodness we hadn't yet called for an ambulance! LOL.

Three cheers for the chipmonk.
He conquered the giant.
^_^
Another great story!
Thanks Paul
I'll never look at another chipmunk without a chuckle.
Great story!
Karen...that's funny about about the elderly gentleman...sometimes you gotta look twice at things to know what's going on....and speaking of a 6 o'clock squirrel, lord around here we got some 24 hour ones.......:)
Thank you Sharran...but I wasn't conquered, I was just scared to death.......:)
Staceymom.....thanks glad you enjoyed it and every chuckle you get from a chipmunk, well I'll smile a little too......thanks for reading the story and taking the time to write....
