Sick Oak help

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Anybody happen to know what would eat up the center of some oak branches and there also a bunch of small holes through the bark.

Had a huge branch fall down the other day and thought maybe it was from wind damage, but when a second big huge branch came crashign down went out to investigate.

This a huge old tree and not sure if I should let it be or cut it down. Don't want whatevr eatign it, to take out the rest of my oaks cuz they well over a hundred years plus old.

Have it inspected by a professional ISA-registered arboricultural consultant. It is clearly potentially very dangerous, but a good safety assessment can't be done from two small pics on-line!

An on site inspection may cost a couple hundred $$, but not doing so may cost several thousand $$ in damage, or a life or two.
