NeoFarmer needs Help with Plant Names

Poulsbo, WA

Thanks, Mary! Hey, hope you are enjoying your day off.
Aren't the sun breaks lovely? The mist is coming down, and it is balmy,
reminds me of a cool day in the tropics. Or is that just desperately wishful thinking. ;)

More like, THE FALL. I didn't last long out there, thats for sure. the wind is cold, Its windy here.
Tried to take some pics, but the plants won't hold still. LOL

New (noid) just opened, and Tilly checking out a weed.

Flowers and kitties, oh my. Well, the sun is most definitely gone, and a heavy mist is falling everywhere.
I am now looking around for an indoor job, but I hate them.
I would rather be getting dirty outside, than vacuuming and dusting,
but the health department may condemn if I don't. ;)

I'm in to. my only day off this week and stuck in the house. Poo

Bless your heart, I know how much your gardening means to you.
The wind seems to have died down, so a good rain slicker, and a hot cuppa joe,
and you could still work outside. I think I am going to terrify my kitty and vacuum.

Tryed that, just not fun. plus everything is so wet hard to what I need to do. but did take care of the GH, got to make it bigger so I can play in it. when to weather is like this, Plans for this summer. Ha

Oh my goodness! How have I missed this thread and Neo's beautiful artwork??? Neofarmer, you are definitely part fairy!! The moss garden! The rocks and water! Don't see why those wouldn't sell and keep you in the style to which you would like to become accustomed. I remember years ago when i was selling little pins at the local craft shows. Amy Brown (the artist who does those fabulous fairies) was just starting out and she had a booth at the Kent Commons craft show where she was selling 8x10 prints of her stuff. I bought several because I just loved them. Now she sells her stuff everywhere.
In my next life I want to have this kind of artistic talent.

Uh-oh, we have to teach Neo about housecleaning rules: no washing of kitchen floors (they only get tracked up when we pot indoors), and definately no vaccuming - absolutely not, unless we want more dry stuff for the compost bins - then possibly, but only if we have left it long enough to name the dust bunnies under the furniture and are sure of a good haul.

Thanks Pixy. Is that like the pot calling the kettle black? Pixy, Fairy? ;)
Its not for lack of talent, but lack of marketing. Or fear, who knows.
I used to run my own graphic design business, then became a jewelry designer,
and made some fun things, before realizing that illustration was my calling.
Now I see my jewelry, and the knock offs, as I am out and about. Kinda fun.
I did a line of greeting cards with Lucy Rigg, the Bear lady.
I had an illustration rep at one time and that was going well, until photoshop hit en masse,
and advertising stopped used so much illustration.
I had a start-up business selling red and white english and japanese transferware
to antique shops, and that was going well, then 9/11 and people weren't as quick
to fork over 150. bucks for a plate. I have about 3,000. in inventory still, filling a china cabinet
and quite a few boxes. They look pretty on the table during the holidays.
I need to find a marketing person, so I can just do the art. Mostly I quit thinking that way,
and started focusing several years ago on growing my own vegies. Takes a lot of time to do
all that research, etc. So unfortunately I do just enough art to throw a new things out for the students.

Laurie1- but let's face it, when you have smashed goat poo berries on your floor,
from keeping a c-sectioned goat in your kitchen, that has GOT to be the limit.
Otherwise, it is fun to name that leaf, you know, the one that was stuck to the bottom of your
garden clog, and now is in the bedroom. You can practice your botanical names right in the house!

Here's a couple of flowers that I photographed probably on the Bainbridge Garden Tour.
Anyone know what they are?

I used to have this flower, chocolate cosmos?
But the plant behind it, I think is something different.

Neo the first flower is a lovely little collarette Dahlia. The 'Impression' series produces small blooms such as those, but cant' say for sure if that's it. Nice!

I have to giggle at the thought of your goat in the kitchen. When we first got our pygmies, a gal at the cat vet asked me if I let them in the kitchen. Dead serious. I was aghast at the notion, mostly because they probably wouldn't add any more dirt than is in there on any given day and they could snack on "Name that Leaf" competitors on the floor and rugs LOL!

Did your C sectioned doe come out okay?

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Coleus - yes; Choc. Cosmos next to an Acer Palmatum, or so it seems.

Poulsbo, WA

Poochella, a dahlia! I always thought of them as being huge. I'll have to find one of them.
The doe is frisky again, but it was a harrowing experience. Thanks for asking!

Ok, so Coleus it is. Now that you mention it, it does look like an Acer. Maybe the sun hitting it made it look white. So it was probably a soft burgundy, perhaps.

Neo, sounds like you've run the gamut in the marketing business. And that you are a Jill of all trades, as well. Still, regardless of photoshop, it takes a good eye and talent to do something really cool even on the computer. Of course, I don't know if I would be able to concentrate on any kind of artistic endeavor with a goat in the kitchen. Glad she is frisky again. That's a harrowing experience, with or without 'name the leaf'.
I would love to have little goats. Maybe at our next house.
Just now, though, I am babysitting a ferret and she is the cutest thing I've ever seen! I had no idea they were so fun and so smart. She's like a little kitten with her playful personality. Here she is looking to climb into the chest of drawers where my dh stores some of his stuff. She is completely entertaining. We are going to miss her when my niece claims her back.

Here's a better photo of her. She's very small for a ferret, and she is spayed and de-scented. For a small animal, she is very smart and curious.

I'm sick with envy. Neo

Cute Pixs I just love them, but I don't think my cats would.

No, likely not, Tills. My dogs are raring to get at her, but I don't trust them. Fran would likely just want to mother her and lick her to death, but I fear Skippy might be a killer. I've seen him catch a rat, and he's not even a terrier.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

My cats are very territorial, this is my house no visitiors.

Dogs may care less, or carry it around like there stuff toy.

I'm watching you.

OOH! She looks lethal! LOL!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

That one is my shadow, and your highness, no where I can go without her. And if she can't see me, she has this meow that sounds like she is Stuck somewhere and cant find her way out, until I call her. She has the dogs treed, no fact of the matter LOL
Tis funny to see a dog twice her size, will not go near her.
Whats really funny, is when I tell Tyler he is a bad boy, She will run up and swat him.
And a dog 5 times her size, just goes the other way.

But she looks so sweet, Not

Thumbnail by tillysrat

I would love to see her swat that dog! What a sight!
