Remove seed pods to induce more blooming?

Anderson, SC(Zone 7b)

I have 3 Flying Saucer vines on the front of my deck that were blooming their little heads off a few weeks ago - now they're barely blooming but have a zillion seed pods on them.

I want blooms, not seeds, so if I remove the seed pods will they start blooming again? Or should I just replace the vines?

You can experiment on one of your vines by picking off the seed pods and seeing if it will reflower?

Oh, that's a good idea! Thank you! :))

I would fertilize them with Bloom Booster and wait a week or two to see if that doesn't jump start more blooms for ya!

I did try that last week with no noticeable results.

Sometimes the fertilizer takes a while to soak down into the roots and up through the vine. I fertilize mine regularly (every 3 weeks) and they seem to bloom like crazy. How long have you had these vines growing? Mayeb they are ending their life-cycle? I don't know.

This is my 1st year growing MGs, so that's what I'm wondering. I started these from seed in Feb, & put them out in April. They were blooming like crazy and I was lightly fertilizing every 2 weeks, now they're just covered with seed pods & maybe a very few blooms (or none) everyday. They're still growing in length, tho.

I have many other MGs that haven't even started blooming yet, and quite a few others that do a few blooms a day. I want flowers in that spot, but if I move them I'm going to have to kill them 'cus they're wrapped all in my lattice.

I wouldn't try moving them at this point if they are in the ground. That would probably kill them for sure. Are they getting some direct sun during the day?

They're in pots on a landing on my deck. They get full sun all day - 1/2 day on one side, 1/2 day on the other.

Thanks for trying to help. :))

If the vines are still growing, I'd just keep fertilizing every 2 weeks. I am sure you'll get more blooms if the vines haven't reach the end of their life cycle. But if so, collect the seed pods when ripe and sow some more!!! :-)

Ok, Thank you!!
