It's a hardy geranium Erynne. My DSIL gave me I think 6 divisions of it about 3 1/2 years ago when I was first starting my gardens in Blyth and it has spread over that time to fill in and overflow its space completely. I have no idea what cultivar it is. I agree - it is beautiful and makes a very nice show, but it has a nasty scent - sorta like fly spray in my opinion ;-)

Work In Progress - Redesign of Gardens
I thought it looked familiar but wasn't sure. I've never actually smelled one before but I'll heed your warning.
Did you get much done this weekend? I got a few things done and decided to work in the rain til I could no longer stand it. I'm sick of this rain interfering with my free time! Rain rain, go away...rain at night, not the day!
Erynne
Yeah, I hear ya about the rain! Between that and family commitments this weekend I got absolutely zip done outside. On the bright side, it would no longer bother me if someone dropped in unexpectedly - got my housework done :-)
--Ginny
Hmmm, I should ask DH if he wants to go see a real live clean house that's owned by a gardener in Blyth. He might not believe there is such a thing ;)
somehow he has this crazy notion that gardeners would rather be in the garden than do housework
Erynne
LOL Yeah, my poor DH has taken over most of the housework out of sheer self-defense, but there are some things he refuses to do - bathrooms, dusting and floor washing. He'll do anything else, bless his soul :-) Am I lucky or what?

New photos have been added to my Landscaping blog (2008 Gardens).
Erynne, you'll like the new raised garden bed - lots of new hostas :-)
One more week of work and then we're off for two weeks. I'm planning on working my little behind off to get as much done as possible. I will, however, take a day or two to just relax, enjoy the gardens, and maybe take a day trip somewhere.
Enjoy everyone!

Thanks for the update, Ginny. Holy smokes, it's coming along like gangbusters! I can't believe your enthusiasm and energy (can I have some? lol) to tackle such a big project. Looks great! I believe Erynne is off on vacation herself and I don't know if she's plugged in or not because it sounds like a quiet, out of the way sort of place. Hope you get some relaxation in yourself - you sure deserve it!
Sandy
Thanks Sandy :-) I'd be happy to lend you some of my energy, but only after I'm done with it!

WOW!!! You are like the everready bunny!!! It takes me three years to finish a dinky little project. Looking fabby!!!
It's looking really good Ginny!
Could you possibly tell me what the plant is in the top left of this photo http://davesgarden.com/community/blogs/i/50845/ / ??? I really like it, it has an 'exotic' look to it!
Thanks for sharing!
Steven
LOL You see the everready bunny dahlianut, but my DH sees a runaway horse with the bit between its teeth :-) By the way, I still haven't checked for a manufacturer's label on those lily solar lights. The battery compartment is affixed with 4 screws, and of course I don't usually roam my gardens with screwdriver in hand.
Steven, the plant in the upper left of that photo is Crocosmia 'Lucifer'. It's just setting buds now. When it blooms I'll take a pic and send it to you. I bought 3 Crocosmia 'Walburton Yellow' bulbs this year and planted them beside 'Lucifer', but they haven't broken ground yet. I'm beginning to think they're not going to :-(
--Ginny
Ahh, Crocosmia! I've always liked those....a DGer sent me some seeds for them last year so maybe I should get them started....or do you think it would be too late now and they wouldn't be able to mature enough before winter? They do stay in the ground through the winter right??
I hope your yellow ones come up! I've had spring planted bulbs come up in the fall or sometimes not till the following spring, so don't give up :)
Steven
I've never tried to grow Crocosmia from seed Steven, so I don't know if it's too late now or not - and yes, they are hardy to our zone.
--Ginny
I'd maybe wait Steven. It's a slow germinator according to my 'bible'. http://tomclothier.hort.net/ Haven't tried it myself though.
Thanks, I guess I'll wait a bit :)
Steven
ps:thanks for the link!
