Charlene

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Sheila, I am so sorry you aren't going to be able to come.

We will miss you!! Do you have someone that can bring your trades to you? Or do you want us to add them to the Jacksonville RU?

Charlene

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Well if you would stay in the house....... I am trying to call you!!! CHARLENE....LOL

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

mmm did Beck make it to Char's by now?????

and yes 8am for mama but 10 for the rest of us and mama just remember several of us DO have your cell phone number so we can call and get you up LMAO

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Charlene, I am not planning on doing the E. TX RU at this time. Just too complicated for us right now. DH has treatments in am and pm for another two weeks we were told today and then there will be something unknown after that. So I can't make any plans for now, but thanks for asking.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Just so everyone knows, cel phones rarely work here in this area. If someone gets lost just ask where the community center on fm 831 in Flo is. Our mail comes to Buffalo, but the small community (of population 93) here is Flo. If you are on 831 when you get lost, just stop and ask anyone. Unless they just moved here and were blindfolded on the way in, they will know where it is.

Beck and Mama are coming tomorrow. What else did we expect from those two? LOL
They each have an excuse, but my thoughts are...there is an old saying about everyone has one. LOL

Is anyone really ever ready anytime ahead of the day before the RU? Ya know like plants potted up or packed up and labeled and food all ready and if your stay is overnight things packed? Well these two cuckoo birds are not ready yet!! What can I say? Even so, I bet they are ahead of me! LOL

I have to get signs made and forget the name tags, we'll write on 'em when ya get here.
Too much to do in too short of time. My excuse is I lost four days due to a death in the family. Of course, I should have been ready ahead of time and now, I wouldn't be rushing around like a chicken with my head cut off.

By the way Eddies nephew who was a pall bearer at the funeral had his daughter and grandson also at the funeral. The grandson who was 7 got hit by a pick-up truck today. He and another boy were riding on a four wheeler and somehow got into the street. They were both killed. My mom is going to be going back to Louisiana in the morning for visitation with that family. She and Eddie's daughter (Anne) are not up to going to another funeral so soon, so they will just pay their respects and return home.

I remember the little tow-headed boy because there were all little girls there in his age group and they were tormenting him as little girls do. That he is gone now is really hard to accept. Life is fragile folks. Love one another and tell them you love them with hugs.

Charlene

my condolences to the family losing one so young is so hard god must have wanted him for something special.

Sheila I'm keeping you and the hubby in my thoughts and prayers also (whole family actually) we will miss ya sunday.
I hope things go okay and he gets to feeling better and gets better with all of this.

(((((((((HUGS)))))))) to y'all

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

That is a hard pill to swallow Charlene. Two youngsters take so quickly. T & P for those families for sure. Hope your Mom can bounce back from the devastation she must feel right now.

Thanks Phyllis for the hugs and prayers. DH has a good outlook, but this wasn't how we planned it for sure.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Beck is here and we have been going crazy having a ball. Can't wait until everyone gets here.

Thanks for the kind words for my mom and Anne. I can't imagine losing a child. That pain must be the worse kind out there to bear. They are a Christian family, so that of course helps. The mom has had to be sedated heavily as she is probably taking this like most of us would.

Oh lordy Char keep an eye on her she might grab everything before we get there ..LOL

OMG ... A seven year old! How tragic! My prayers go out to the family.

Charlene if you are there shoot me the Trades thread, so I can see if I have everything I promised. Thanks

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Does anyone know if there are any nurseries near this location? I need to find a pipevine my cats will eat.

Thanks, Kim

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Kim, there is one nursery in the area. It is worth visiting. I'll tell you how to find it when you are here.

Charlene

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

Guys, I hope someone sees this. I am not going to be able to make it. Really sorry. I'll hold everyone's plants and hopefully get to the east texas roundup.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

sweezel..we did miss you but figured something came up since you didn't show...hope things are okay and you can make it on the 28th.

were you wanting banana? I have them all here and will set however many you want aside for you for the 28th

Had a great time everyone THANK YOU!!!!

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

I had a wonderful time too! Thank you all so much, and especially Charlene for putting it all together!

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

I am sorry I missed it. My leg has been giving me problems (swelling) and I just felt it best if I did not drive 4 hours in one day because I did not have someone else to drive part of the way.

Now I have to take care of these 50 plus baby plants at least another 3 weeks! I really hope I can make it to the E. Texas Roundup and I'd still love a banana if you still have it aside when the round up comes. One of my kids will be getting back from camp the same evening, though a friend is bringing her home. I will just have to play it by ear.

I talked to my friend a bit ago and she may be able to come and bring her mil, who is a master gardener in Greenville. She could not come this weekend but I think she would really like coming - if she can come to Jacksonville.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Well sorry you didn't' come but I have to agree was best you didn't you are more important then the plants and I will set a banana aside for you we'll get it to you one way or another.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

We had a wonderful time, the place was great, and Charlene is a wonderful hostess.
She is very kind and generous, and it was great to see everyone, and also meet Becky, she is a great lady too.
I will post some pictures soon, I am very tired right now.
Sorry you couldn't come Stacey, I gave your plant to Lynea.
Josephine.

Hey, TJ... that "golden carpet" sedum you got today... here is a PF photo of it in bloom. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/41163/

Here is a picture of mine a couple of years ago. I planted one tiny handful, and it did this in about 8 weeks.

WOW! Thanks Pattie!

We had a great time too! Jordyn slept the whole ride home and I got back in time to get some stuff done. Thanks to all who worked this swap! See y'all at the fall swap!

It was sooo good to see everyone!!! I had a great time and appreciate everyones hard work!

Many thanks to Charlene for hosting.

Sweezel, I have your germander. Will hold it for you till the 28th or if you get over to Edgewood let me know and I'll run it over to you. Bum leg does not sound fun, hope your doing better :0)

Pb, next time can I get a handful of that sedum too? Pleeeez

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, we will meet up somehow, someway and I will get the germander and give you the Mex Marigold, even if it isn't in Jacksonville. Yep, the leg thing sucks. I had a DVT (deep vein blood clot) in my upper thigh 2 years ago and it left a permanent blockage in the vein (part of it became one with my vein wall). Driving long distances without lots of stretching stops is really a no-no, though I push the envelope. When I am in the passenger seat, I can usually prop my leg up and do stretches and such. I wear a compression stocking much of the time, but have not much lately (shorts season!) so my leg is not happy with me.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Cocoa, I'll bring you some at the ET RU.

BTW, this stuff totally covered up my Dragon's Blood. 'Nother reason I haven't been happy with the Dragon's Blood.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

I am so glad everyone came and I hope you will all come again. I hope you can make it next time if you didn't make this one.

Everyone was so helpful with tables and sweeping and the KP duty. I appreciate all of you. You guys just made my day by just being you. Thank you all so much.

Now let's post some pics.

Sweezel, I keep thinking your to young to have any problems like that, but then I remembered a conversation about you being much older than you look. Hard to have any sympathy for you after that. LOL I am just kidding and do hope you feel up to the Jacksonville RU. I have some other things for you too... the american germander is from Josephine.

PB, thank you! here is the link that Faeden listed a lot of dense growing sedum varieties. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/852058/

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

Haha! Well, the only sympathy card I have for that is that it's sometimes hard to be taken seriously when you look like a teenager. :) I was looking at some pictures of me last night and there is one of me at Christmas. The soft light and look on my face, I thought "wow", I could really pass for about 15. I was 28 when I got the DVT and the doctors at the hospital just did not want to believe my symptoms when it happened. I was young, healthy and have never smoked so I was not high risk.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks, Cocoa!
