WEIRD WEATHER

Fenton, MO(Zone 6b)

I had something weather wise I never had happened before. The wind blow for 24 hours straight . I mean gust up to 40 MPH . It broke off the top six inches of at least 20 lilies in my Garden. Mostly Tetras. I guess because there more brittle . Big bummer Most were over 6 feet tall.

I feel your pain! So sorry, mother nature can sometimes have a bizzare sense of humor.

(Sue) South Central, IA(Zone 5a)

Oh No, I would be just devastated if that happened to me. I really am sorry about your gardens.

I do hope this won't keep you from coming to the show this weekend. I plan on being there with Wandasflowers.

Ripon, WI(Zone 4a)

How heartbreaking. I would be soooo bummed out.

Fenton, MO(Zone 6b)

I will be at the show. But here is St. Louis most of the members Do not Have any Lilies blooming . I have 1 pixie blooming and nothing else even close and I have at least 1000 lilies .

I know exactly what you mean. Our show is the 21st and 22nd. I'm the southern most garden we have and there is nothing even remotely close to blooming, not even the martagons that the rabbits missed! Of course for us we have almost 3 full weeks and if the weather is warm things can change in a hurry.

Hate to sound stupid, but what show is this?

(Sue) South Central, IA(Zone 5a)

The Mid America Regional Lily Society Lily Show in St. Louis at the Botanical Center.

Dennis did I get that right?

silver spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Great! I found the website. I'll be there!

And good luck on that judging thingie... ;)

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about the wind damage to your lilies! I went through that last month with the t-storm/tornado/hail weirdness. Lost a bunch of tops off my Triumphator seedlings and some asiatics. I also just noticed the tops of both stalks of my Black Dragon lilies were snapped off--I think that was kid damage though:) I've had them planted 4 years and haven't yet seen a flower because of kids snapping them off:lol:
