I know I know this, but can't bring it to mind at the moment!
Which is this lily?

The form of the foliage makes me think L. pyrenaicum. Are there spots on the petals? I can't tell from the photo.

Yes that's what I thought, yes, the flowers are spotted purple/red.

Ya know, you guys amaze me. I'm doing good to be able to tell an Oriental from an Asiatic! And you guys are rattling off specie lily names to beat the band. :) LOL That's why I love this place, there are so many cool and smart people that hang out here..

Actually, as soon as I saw the photo I recalled the long thread last year regarding wallaby's p. lily. She is the expert researcher who finally nailed it in spite of her many doubts.

I can hardly name any bands . . .

That's more bands than I can name...

LOL you guys make me smile. :)

Here's the link to my research last year on this one (scroll down), I came to the conclusion it was probably a L. pyrenaicum x as much breeding had been done years ago in Scotland. The bulb was way too big for L. pyrenaicum.

It turned out the seller had cut the bulb from the ground, hence no roots!

This year's pic of it in the ground.
