I can't seem to find an entry in Bug Files for this annoying, biting creature.

You are right, there was no entry for the Deer Fly - Chrysops callidus, but I have now created one here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/5105/

Can you add any information about this fly or better still have you a photo you could add to the page.

If they are in your area you could perhaps add a zipcode report to record your area in its distribution.

Oh, they're here allright...give me a couple weeks and I can inundate you with photos, I'll even sacrifice my hand for a good shot ^_^

Can't do the zip code report since it is a US only thing.
