CLOSED: What is the name of this bug?

Franklin Square, NY

This is a tiny red bug, I mean tiny, from afar it looks like a fuzzy red dot that just moves, and if you were to sqwash one it will leave a red stain. It should be a well known bug for most, since at least I've seen this bug being around for years and now would like to know what it is.

They were located all over my stoop, now they are climbing on the sliding of my house. Please can anyone identify it?!

P.S. The bug's coloring is bright red.

Maybe it's a velvet mite (Trombidiidae).

I'm sorry, but I put the link with information about velvet mite incorrectly:

Thank you carmen, I think you're correct.

I'm not sure. If the front pair of legs (too blurry to fully make out in this image) are noticeably longer than the rest, it could be a clover mite (Bryobia praetiosa), these mites often 'invade' buildings in large numbers, whereas velvet mites tend not to occur en masse. See http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/2000/2095.html for a fact sheet and http://www.coopext.colostate.edu/4dmg/images/clvmite1.jpg for an image.
