When are Helleborus seeds ready?

Do they turn black or brown in the seed pod? Do I have to wait till the pod opens up? Any help would be greatlly appreciated. Thanks so much!!!!

Black. Here's the guide I use. I'd test a pod to see if they're "cooked" yet. Hope it helps.

Can anyone tell me how to collect verbena seeds? I know where they are, but I even put a pouch on them and nothing.
