CLOSED: Small bug eating my sunflower leaves

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

This is about the best picture my camera would take of these little guys. They are on the undersides of the leaves on the main vein, and they look like brown stubs where a stem had been cut off.
Does anyone know how to get rid of these guys without killing my wheel bug?

Unfortunately, the image is too fuzzy to even guess at what it might be. Could you try taking some more photos?

I tried to get a better picture yesterday evening but I guess the rain got rid of them for now. I'm sure they'll be back.

It looks kinda like this guy, but brown, like a tiny piece of a dead leaf.

That's a leafhopper of some kind, there are lots of them.

edited to add that could be a spittlebug, too. Do you see little white foamy areas on some of your plants?

The insect illustrated is a treehopper (family Membracidae). many species in this family have their pronotum expanded into projections, sometimes resembling thorns, other times being truly bizarre. See http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/treehoppers_membracidae for some examples.

I think I have Entylia carinata, or Ceresa basalis. They are so small I need to find my magnifying glass to see them real good. Whichever, they are bad bad bad! I need about 20 more Wheel Bugs LOL!

Yes, it's definately one or the other.
Thanks for your help once again Suunto :)
