How do you get your butterflies to sit still for a picture??!! I had to chase this guy up and down along a creek bank! I'd love to know what he is if anyone knows. I haven't been able to ID him.
CLOSED: I just have to know...
Very lovely photo.
Sure is different. Looked in my insect book but can't find any information on this one. Course it is an old book and they don't list everything. Curious to see what it is as well.
I'm sure Poppysue will be able to ID it.
Wow!! So beautiful and the photo is amazing!!
Don't feel bad Floridan... I can't seem to get any good butterfly pictures either. It's a hard one to ID without seeing the top side of the wings. I might be able to Id it if you have a shot showing the wing pattern .... even if it's a bad one.
Wind uses superglue!
Nor hummingbirds! Gone before u know it!They are fast little hummers! Pretty butterfly!
Poppysue, I have no pics of the topside of this flutter. It would flit right, left, up and down and as soon as it lit on a flower its wings folded up. Will be going back to this park soon anyways and looking on the bright side, chasing these guys can be good exercise! LOL So the trick is super glue huh??
Gorgeous!
Zanny that is the last secret I tell you lol.
Actually I just sit and wait for him to find the orange plant, they seem to love it. He runs from me and when he thinks I've moved back far enough he comes back. There are two of them that fly around this plant and I am never able to get a picture of both of them.
I love butterflies and this one is a beauty, thanks for sharing.
Floridian make like a poll and stand still and it will land, as long as you move it will fly away.
Just beautiful.
REally great!! And you know, you're right... how does windsuffer get those shots???? Maybe the butterflies aren;t real at all!! LOL!!! Jealousy gets me no where, huh??LOL!!

Oh JSS I see you've been hanging around Zanny lol. My little butterfly was flying around the plants all day, flying past my head until I got the camera, he then took off.
Hi everyone, I have been lurking here for just a short time. I felt the need to respond to this thread. I know how frustrating it can be to try and identify the little critters in nature. I have found this site to be really helpful. www.enature.com Hope it helps you identify this flutterby.
Hi Hollyburgh and welcome to Dave's Garden. Thanks for the link! It looks like a great one! Maybe I'll be able to ID him/her there. Saw a couple of possibilities already.
Here is Hollyburgh's link to nature http://www.enature.com and thanks Hollyburgh I found it very interesting.
