I found this insect while mulching my cannas today. I have lived here 24 years and never seen it before. I live in East Texas-
CLOSED: what is this insect?
They're stinkbug nymphs - they look like the Florida predatory stinkbug, Euthyrhynchus floridanus, but I don't know if they exist in Texas or not. That bug eats other insects and is considered a beneficial insect.

I have been trying since April to find out what these insects are. I also live in Nacogdoches County - have been here for 30 years, and have never seen these before. I saw them in two different places - both under heavy foliage - within a week of each other, but have not seen them since.
