I found this in the middle of a hiking trail in May 10. In the mountain there are pines, oak and chestnut. Thank you!
CLOSED: What caterpillar?
This could be in the family Notodontidae (prominents) or Noctuidae (owlet moths/underwings); unless someone recognizes this particular species, one would need to use a microscope to be certain of i.d.
