It's terrible pic but it was racing along the balcony at dusk and I didn't have time to get the speedlight. It was just over an inch long.

This is a millipede (note the two pairs of legs per body segment); although the photos are blurry, it appears to be in the order Polydesmida (flat-backed millipedes). Some species in this family are cosmopolitan 'home invaders' - see http://xespok.net/gallery/albums/Paradoxosomatidae/Oxidus_gracilis_1000001223.jpg for an example.
