Faraway In North Pole

North Pole, AK(Zone 1)

My first lily of the season has opened! Dimention from Faraway Flowers. 40" tall, a deep rich black-red...Thank you, Ramona!

My intention was to have my new Asiatics in the ground before bloom but since we are 2 weeks behind in temperatures warming, my existing lilies are late and slow in poking their noses up. I chose not to dig in my lily beds to put new babies in until I saw who was coming back. (Now that they are lazily peaking up, I see that they were busy multiplying while they were supposed to be resting peacefully under the snow). So Dimention is still in her pot and will get her home in the soil after she finishes blooming. Right now, she's basking in her private glory on the deck until all her brothers and sisters are ready to join her. With a bloom this early, it should be a long season of surprises!

She deserves a second pic! I think she's really pretty!

Sure is a gorgeous color! Isn't it fun to find out how many multiplied over the winter?

The first Faraway Flower picture. Ooooh, I can not wait for my 'Dimention' to open, but it will be a while. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful photo!

Cool, a little lighter than the advertisement pictures though.

Lisbon, IA(Zone 5a)

Oh so cool!! :)

Having photographed these darker ones, I think it is extremely hard to capture the color. Chocolate, it is a pretty accurate color shot?

North Pole, AK(Zone 1)

Magnolialover is right. It is darker and richer then I was able to capture in the photo. There's not as much red undertone as it appears. More toward a black maroon with minute touches of orange on the undervein and the outer edges of the petals. Very different from anything other lilies I have.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

i should have gotten that one

North Pole, AK(Zone 1)

I always say I should have gotten whichever 1, 6 or 10 I didn't get. The list is started for next year and I don't know where 1/2 of this year's are going...LOL

That's the nice thing about lilies ~ given a couple of years, they're easy to share. :)

Oh my some of mine are up but no blooms yet I can hardly wait !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dimention is a very pretty color. Were is Chocolatemoose lately? Has not been posting anything that I have seen for quite some time.

She's probably out in the yard as it has likely just warned up enough for her to be able to do anything! ^_^

Where is CMoose??? She's buried in the garage somewhere. DH said he saw her a week ago, but the jungle has swallowed her up.
We had 3-4 days of unseasonably warm weather, along with our it's FINALLY spring temps, so we've been taking advantage of it to do some clean-up and prep work outdoors. Still too early to plant out, though the plants are getting restless and stressed wanting to be out in the sun. When it's sunny/warm enough, I open the garage doors, but it cooled back down so they are back being sustained on their artificial lighting. My greenhouse is not heated and temps are still mid 30's at night so nothing can go out there yet, either....It's a kick to see all the GREEN you all have in your yards! Trees here have that green blush and the grass is greening, now that we've spring-cleaned it early...It happens fast here, once it starts...Rain the last two days, so thought I'd catch up on DG.
Here is a quick shot of how us northerners start our summer babies...I am SOOOooo envious of NYRita...heavy sigh....
The space where the lilies (and some of the dahlias) are is where DH parks his 3500 heavy duty Dodge Ram in the winter...lol. The other 1/2 not pictured is all the "other" seeds, etc. I start on my side of the garage.

I thought I loved my garden (and I do) but I could never go thru all that starting of plants indoors and digging up of bulbs. You are one dedicated gardener. But the results are so beautiful.

(Judith) Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

That's impressive! When do you put them out?

North Pole, AK(Zone 1)

Not soon enough! ^_^. Hopefully they'll start getting hardened off the end of next week, to be totally out by the end of the month. They come out of dormancy sooner than I'd like, so I have to start them or lose them.

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

The way you've tiered your lights looks sensible.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

hee hee That pic looks like it belongs in a AT&T commercial ~ 'more lights in more places!'

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I am going to have to get this lily...I almost bought it last year. I really should have gotten it. Very pretty!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Barbara - you certainly do have a beautiful Dimention there!

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Choco-Moose, that is a garage full of gorgeous tall plants. I can see why they are stressed and wanting to go out. NYRita is right you are dedicated!

I haven't taken any pictures since I mowed yesterday. I'll do thet today.

Moby, that's funny!

Howdy Do Pirl!
