Comma butterflies - Polygonia c-album / Polygonia comma

West Pottsgrove, PA(Zone 6b)

Are Polygonia comma and P.c-album two separate species? ( or a subspecies...) I'm adding P. comma because I was lucky enough to get some decent pics today, and I see there are a couple entries that are probably taken in the US that are entered as P. c-album.
Thanks

Thanks for spotting that. You are quite right Polygonia c-album does not occur in America, although there are several very similar species that do. The Eastern Comma Polygonia comma is often known as simply the Comma in America and this may have led to the confusion.

I have d-mailed to the authors of the American Comma pictures and will move them to the Polygonia comma page as soon as I hear from them,

Kennedy
