This one also resembles a lady bug, but instead of being green w/spots, this one appears to be gold plated!
CLOSED: Another New Bug!
This is a tortoise beetle (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae; subfamily Cassidinae). They feed primarily on members of the morning glory family, including sweet potatoes. See http://creatures.ifas.ufl.edu/veg/potato/golden_tortoise_beetle.htm for more information on one of the commoner species.
Thanks alot, suunto! It's nice to know that this is one bug that will not kill everything, just eat some of it! Luckily, I am growing plenty of morning glories this year!
