Picotee Blue MG's

Bismarck, ND

Hi - this is my first year of starting MG's from seed. I planted a package of Pictoee Blue, Pink Star and Tri-color. The Picotee blue's are only about 3 inches tall but do have their second set of leaves forming whereas the other two types are about 9 inches tall and are starting to vine. Is this normal for the Picotee Blue to be this far behind? I know nothing about MG's, but am learning from everyone on this site and do want to thank all of you for the knowledge that you so willingly share.
Thanks

Picotee Blue is a nil, and will not get as big as the tri-color. Mine have always been small plants.

They are good for containers.

Yes, They can look downright cute in a container garden. I requires a slightly different way of thinking. I call the small kind of kikyo the the African Violets of morning glories. :)

A small pot and the requirement for a lot of sun means more watering requirements. Now, there are larger kikyos too. There are mini plants like mini bar rose and the small kikyos and larger longer vines in the round flowers and kikyos as well. You just need to find the strain that has the characteristics you like best.

What I did was get a large pot and put one of those little trellises in it for them to climb up. They were very pretty.

Maybe, later you could run a thread to show different growing arrangements for different varieties. That would fun and educational if everyone had something different to post.
