That really is neat ronna. Thanks for posting the photo. Wish that I had room for it! Hope that it grows well in your garden.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Well really Im pretty full also!!! Eveytime I purchase a new plant I wonder where am I going to put this!!!LOL. I had to move a hosta or two to make room for the new ligularias I bought this year so far.. But the row of them looking really great!!! I also got a Lil Rocket and a larger Rocket ligularia! The only thing I do not like about buying them now is that they are almost ready to blossom. Being in the greenhouses and all. But thats okay... Next year they will be on track. Ronna

Beautiful burgandy on that Ligularia and a good size plant :)

Here's an inconspicuous bloom of one of the euphobias that I should not have had.

gardenlady, beautiful color mix of the foliage topped off with this white plume.

Stanford, CA(Zone 9b)

Why should you not have had euphorbias enya? Too invasive?

Goatsbeard is so pretty garden lady. Always reminds me of huge astilbe.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Thanks.. I wish I had better luck with astilbe!! So pretty.. Ronna

I'm enjoying everyones photos of their own shady patches. :) I do love summer!

Here's the busiest portion of my shady stuff. I think I may just need to thin things out here just a tad. Whaddaya think? :)

The Confederate Jasmine on the wall there has just finished blooming and the red Astilbe in the foreground is fading fast.

Chain ferns, Colocsia Illustris, and Lobelia C. in between.

DEB, I think you should do NOTHING to your garden. This has go to be the most beautiful combo I have ever seen!

Stanford, CA(Zone 9b)

Deb, I agree with Rob. It's a beautiful planting, so rich and full. Love the elephant ears. I've often wondered how to use them and I can see how now.

Madison, WI

The color combination is almost extraterrastrial. Absolutely beautiful! The fullness of the garden just adds to the richness of textures. I am in love with that blue/green shade of leaves :)

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Thanks enya_34... Really it wasnt planned that way it just happened! But I really love the outcome.. Soon the cherry belles will be opening. They are really thick this year.. So cute.
DebinSC.... GEORGEOUS! Garden... All those different textures. Different colors of foliage... WOW. Thats all I can say. Ronna

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

Gee! Thanks, guys. I was just staring at it again this evening trying to figure out what to do. Guess, I'll do nothin' for now. I'll at least wait for the Cardinal flowers to bloom. :)

Isn't it funny. The person who has the garden is never happy with it but, someone else can look at it and think its so wonderful? But they all are so nice on daves! Enjoy. Its almost summer. Ronna

My favorite perennial for my woodland is spigelia.
It's just now blooming.

That's a beautiful plant weerobin and I had never heard of it before!

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

very pretty Weerobin... Im right along with doss. Never seen that plant. The flowers are so unusual.

Saint Louis, MO(Zone 6a)

I'm not sure why it's not more common.
It's an easy, hardy plant, at least in my area.
Rewards with abundant bloom every year.
I understand that it's native to a broad area of the eastern US.
It's readily available from a number of on-line sources.
But I rarely find it available at local nurseries.
I'm not sure why.

Georgetown, SC(Zone 8a)

Weerobin: I tried to order it last year from Plant Delights. They ran out, so I didn't' get it. For a native plant, it does seem difficult to get!

Do you recall where you got yours?

Deb

Stanford, CA(Zone 9b)

I found it here but it says that it needs sun to light shade.

Plant delights says that they have more as of 6/08/08

How do your mayapples do Stever, have you had them long? I thought that they wouldn't grow happily in zone 9.

My hydrangeas are starting to do their thing.

I'm not sure why I fuss around trying to keep supposedly 'cold-hardy camellias' happy,
when these guys do fine without any pampering.
In my opinion, just as beautiful as a camellia!
