I have four spicebush shrubs that I planted as bare root yearling plants 3 years ago. They have grown impressively, but haven't flowered yet. Is that unusual? With four, shouldn't I have a mix of male and female?
Spicebush (Lindera Benzoin) No Blooms
They need to be treated with a special product known as 'time'. Apply 3-4 years' worth of this to them, and you'll get some flowers.
Resin
3 to 4 more? Not whining, just asking. If it's four from planting, I'll wait expectantly next year. If it's 6 to 8 from planting, I'll just enjoy the delicate foliage for a few more years.
