Got my ducklings!

Lodi, United States

TF is not here, she is busy hatching anaconda eggs for her son's birthday;0) (forgive me TF!)

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

that's lowercase tf to you, you naked-necked chicken lovers!

i didn't do it!

i resemble that remark!

yard is almost cleaned. pool is set up. house is a mess, presents aren't wrapped, and i am out of milo! [feeders are full, but that doesn't last long around here]

how did i get so many chickens?

OK, here are the ducklings... back "on-topic" LOL

Awwww!

Wait a minute.... Hey Catscan, are those anaconda eggs under that duck?

Lodi, United States

Why yes....yes they are! ;0)

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

well, they are IN the incubator, and most are viable, so i guess Sam will get his birthday present early LOL...

have you two nothing better to do than torment a youngmother?

:::::Blushing::::::: "um, no." ; )

Those ducklings are so cute! I envy those of you who can keep a lot of them. I think if I had a lot I'd have to stop my direct tv account because I'd be watching them all the time. My ducks are a lot more entertaining than a lot of the stuff on tv these days lol.

I agree with you bluesmaven. Well, except for CSI and the Travel channel's Anthony Bourdain. I looooove him. I know, I'm a dork!

Lodi, United States

I am naming my new Marans cockerel "Bourdain" in his honor (I have a French theme with the Marans--the other is "Eiffel"). But then I also love Alton Brown--so whose the bigger dork?:0)

Foley, MO

Oh Catscan, that's a great honor to bestow on your roo. (I have it bad). Alton Brown? Maybe not that bad, LOL! Hehe, what about Andrew Zimmer??? He's adorable. Roasted roaches anyone?

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

Anthony who>? Alton what? we can't get cable, and with all this free entertainment around here [well, their feed and water ain't free LOL] we just pick up movies at the rental place or garage sales!

infortuantely i know who Zimmer is, and he is NOT allowed on my boob tube!

Lodi, United States

But Zimmer would be a great name for a roo...and they BOTH eat bugs!

His sardonic rock-star bad-boy persona ( yes I love him too) aside, Bourdain is a wonderful writer. I liked him on TV, but I loved him when I read "The Nasty Bits" and "A Cooks Tour". Drives my DH crazy--he keeps saying Boudain's a poseur. But he also has issues with Alton. I think someone is a little insecure:0).

TF--Alton Brown has a TV show call "Good Eats" which is a very funny examination of cooking with a lot of science thrown in. He was, I think, a cinematographer (or maybe just a cameraman) who changed careers and went to culinary school. He has a rabid following--he is a hoot--but Bourdain is the heartthrob type,--Alton is more the nerdy kid in the back of the class. You can get DVDs of "Good Eats". It is very kid friendly--but sophisticated enough for adults.

I'd like to report a thread hi-jacking! Sorry! But both Anthony and Alton do cook duck. LOL

(sigh) I feel so out of touch. Who are these people? I've never heard of them.

If you want to SEE who Alton and Anthony are you can google "YouTube" and then put in their names....There are always downloads of them--and you don't have to join....I think that is just if you want to comment. There are some great videos on chickens there too.

Thanks Catscan. Not that curious ^_^

We have satellite, so I have heard of Bourdain. I like his program on occasion. I don't watch the boob tube that much. The only time I make sure I watch it is when the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is on. Then I tell people: Don't call me. I won't answer the phone. Outside of that, the only reason the TV is on is because DH turns it on. I have to pay for it just so I can watch that show.

We have Dish Network but we both like to watch science shows. I love old movies and I avoid a lot of the newer stuff (as you can tell!). Tv is on all day everyday for the dog. Keeps her from misbehaving when we're not home. Makes her fall asleep LOL

Ours is Dish also, but I won't pay a lot of money to get something I won't watch. My DH will watch anything. He does like "TVland" and CNN, but will watch the travel channel and discovery sometimes too.

I just am not interested in most of the junk that is on nowadays, so I don't usually watch anything.

LOL yes there is a lot of junk there now days. Last night I was waiting up for Paul to get in and I couldn't find anything to watch. Lots of infomercials. I was remembering when we only had about 7 stations but all night long you could find stuff to watch including movies.

LOL Catscan!! You're right they BOTH eat bugs! I adore the travel channel. Bourdain's sarcastic humor is just my speed. I have not had the pleasure of reading his books, but I'm already looking : ) Andrew Zimmer is a doll, and he is really brave or crazy to try all those foods, but that's why I love his show. I love traveling, and exploring other cultures and countries is a dream of mine. Sci fi channel, independent channel, any forensic shows (my passion; forensic nursing), and scrubs! I am a huge movie nut. Love the horror flicks and romantic comedies :) I enjoy my feathered and furries during the day and TV by night. And if I go to Blockbuster, I usually spend 50$ cause I can't stop at just a few. I love movie marathons. Oh, and speaking of sci fi, does anyone remember Mystery Scinece Theater 3000? That show was hilarious, with the robots and Joe watching the old horror movies and making fun of them, what a riot! I wish they would run a marathon of those!
