CLOSED: ID for a dragonfly, please.

Cairo, Egypt

Its such a beautiful colour, I'd love to know what it is. Its only May, but there are now dozens of them, their favourite habitat being the banks of the River Nile.

It could be a Cardinal Meadowhawk, Sympetrum illotum, but I'm not positive. They have an amber wash across the base of the wings and I can't tell if yours does.

Hi fly_girl.

Its a horrible photo but this shows amber on the wings.

Unfortunately, I don't have a clear view of the thorax in any of my pix.
