So, one of my oriental lilies now has gorgeous yellow-striped foliage. Looks really healthy but I guess it is tulip breaking color virus? So, I guess I must get rid of it now or is that just for esthetics, not for the actual health of the plant and those lilies around it?
"variegated" lily foliage
Do you have a picture by chance? I know I'd love to see it.
No, unfortunately, I have yet to get into that realm - must get a digital camera.
I was really bummed to learn that this is a virus because, as I said, it really is beautiful - I have gotten more and more into the golden foliage in my garden (could have something to do with aging eyesight) and it fits right in!
I would definately 'google' lily virus, lily mosaic virus, and or tulip breaking virus before I destroyed the lily. I have an asiatic that has varigated foliage, well at least the early foliage was and most of it has greened now. I do not believe this seedling has a virus but I am watching it just to be safe.
