This little critter is about 3/4 inch long. When it flies it looks like a small black and white butterfly. When it lands it resembles bird poop.

I would think it is some kind of moth.... but then I don't know much so guess you will have to wait till someone that really knows stops by.

This moth probably is in the family Noctuidae; several species in this family collectively are known as 'bird dropping moths.'
