Should I Move My Lilies Now?

northeast, IL(Zone 5a)

I bought several packs of bulbs early in the spring. Many of them were already sprouted, so I went ahead and potted them up. They are all now 6" at least, many taller, and many have loads of buds. I want them in the ground. It was just too cold when I bought them. Should I wait until they bloom to transplant, or is it OK to go ahead and move them now? They are all in gallon pots, so size wise it should be OK to leave them for a while, I just don't want to lose any blooms.

Thanks,
Deb

I'd probably dig a hole and take as much of the dirt ball from the pot as I can and plant them at the same depth they were at in the pot. I was in the same boat as you and I've got about 30 pots of various lilies sitting around waiting for me to decide where to plant them. :) But maybe someone else will chime in and give you better information. :)
