Sweet Annie

Floyd, VA(Zone 6b)

I seem to have a healthy stand of Sweet Annie, but it sounds like a weed on plant files. Any suggestions?

You could ask on the Native Plant forum or whatever the forum's called now...

I don't know much about 'Sweet Annie'...

A lot of floral designers use Sweet Annie for making wreaths, swags, etc. http://www.driedflowersdirect.com/dried-flowers/sweet-annie.htm has some info.

I love Sweet Annie, hang it to dry and then use it as potpourri, or put it in a cloth hankie and put it in your drawer, ahhhhhhhhh, smells so good.

I grow sweet annie, but it produces a million gazillion seedlings as you probably know. So you have to use care where you place it. Put it somewhere that you can mow it off or till it under.

I like to grow it in pots and keep it trimmed and then the flowers removed because the foliage is so beautiful.

For nice dried flowers, cut stalks as they are flowering and hang upside down. I left one in the garage all winter and it still smelled wonderful in the spring.
