Its body is just over an inch long and it was in the cats' litter box!

This more likely is in the genus Periplaneta (American, Australian, smoky brown cockroaches, etc.) - see http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/images/1496167606 for an image. Supella nymphs are smaller and usually have two transverse pale bands - see http://www.alohatermite.com/images/supellalongipalpa.jpg.
