I seem to have a large infestation of fungus gnats. Can anyone help with any antidotes to get rid these pesky things.
Thanks, Donna
Fungus gnats
Those pesky varmints! I've tried many different things in my greenhouse. Mainly you want to not overwater, they love damp conditions. The adults don't seems to do a lot of damage, except breed more offspring! The larvae in the soil do the most damage. One friend simply dries her plants out thoroughly then removes about an inch of the soil and replaces it with fresh. Others say you can submerge you soil in boiling water to kill the larvae..to me that sounds like you're gonna kill the plant also. I've had decent luck with putting out cups of vinegar with a spot of dish soap in it...it tends to draw them to it and then drown. This combined with yellow sticky traps worked very well. The biggest thing is to stop them ASAP before they really get over-populated.
